นิทรรศการ “SKEPTICAL”

นิทรรศการ “SKEPTICAL” ผลงานโดย อ๊อฟ สมิธ (Aof Smith) จัดแสดงระหว่างวันที่ 26 มิถุนายน – 31 กรกฎาคม 2558 และจะมีพิธีเปิดในวันศุกร์ที่ 26 มิถุนายน เวลา 18.00 น. ณ หอศิลป์ Subhashok The Arts Centre (S.A.C.) : ศุภโชค ดิ อาร์ต เซนเตอร์

อ๊อฟ สมิธ (Aof Smith) ศิลปินหนุ่มชาวไทยที่ดังไกลถึงในประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา เปิดนิทรรศการ “SKEPTICAL” ถ่ายทอดเรื่องราวซ่อนเร้นทางความคิดผ่านประสบการณ์และจินตนาการ สะท้อนบริบททางสังคม ในสไตส์ ป๊อป เซอเรียลลิสซึ่ม (pop surrealism) ผลงานที่เต็มไปด้วยคำถาม ความไร้เดียงสา ความสนุกของชีวิตที่บางเรื่องราวแฝงไปด้วยยาพิษ โดยนิทรรศการเปิดให้เข้าชมตั้งแต่วันศุกร์ที่ 26 มิถุนายน – วันอาทิตย์ที่ 31 กรกฎาคม 2558 ทุกวันจันทร์ – วันเสาร์ ตั้งแต่เวลา 10.00-17.00 น. ณ.หอศิลป์ ศุภโชค ดิ อาร์ต เซนเตอร์ (S.A.C) สุขุมวิท 39

ผลงานของอ๊อฟ สมิธ จัดแสดงทั้งหมด 35 ชิ้น ถูกสร้างสรรค์โดยเทคนิคสีน้ำมัน โดดเด่นด้วยความสวยงามและอิสระของลายเส้นการลงสีที่ดูฟุ้งฝันราวกับอยู่ในห้วงแห่งจินตนาการ บอกเล่าเรื่องราวเหตุการณ์ต่างๆของสังคมในมุมมืด ผสมผสานโลกแฟนตาซีที่แฝงแง่คิด เติมแต่งแฝงมิติซ้อน ผ่านคาแรคเตอร์ หมาบลูด็อกขนปุกปุยนามว่า” เฟอรี่ ” ตัวแทนความไร้เดียงสาและความฉงน อยากรู้ อยากเห็น ผจญภัยในโลกด้วยความสงสัย ชอบตั้งคำถามสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นว่าทำไม และ คาแรคเตอร์พิเศษ “เฟย์” เด็กผู้หญิงแววตานิ่งเฉยที่ซ่อนความรู้สึกห่วงใย ปกป้อง ทุกคาแรคเตอร์สร้างสรรค์ออกแบบในรูปแบบสไตล์ Pop surrealism ซึ่ง อ๊อฟ สมิธ ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจาก Mark Ryden และ Ron English ศิลปินชั้นนำของโลกในแขนงนี้ แต่อ๊อฟเพิ่มความแตกต่างที่นัยยะบรรยายเรื่องราวซ่อนเร้น ปมขัดแย้งทางความคิด พร้อมเล่นกับความรู้สึกสับสน ความตื่นเต้นและความกลัวในสังคมไทย จนกลายเป็นเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะตัวที่พิเศษ

การแสดงในครั้งนี้ ผลงานได้รับอิทธิพลจากบริบทสังคม ไม่ว่าจะเป็น ยาเสพติด การอุ้มบุญ ความน่ากลัวภัยร้ายเคลือบน้ำตาลในสังคมทีเผชิญ หรือแม้กระทั่งคำถามถึงแม่บุญธรรมที่แสนดีกับความน่ากลัวของการอุ้มบุญ อาชีพซึ่งถูกเปรียบเป็นโรงงานเช่ามดลูกขาดระเบียบควบคุม สู่ผลงานถ่ายทอดจินตนาการแมวผสมข้ามสายพันธ์กับสุนัขกลายเป็นผลลัพธ์อันวุ่นวาย ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในผลงานที่โดดเด่นของนิทรรศการ “SKEPTICAL” ครั้งนี้

อ๊อฟ สมิธ ศิลปินหนุ่มชาวไทยอายุ 28 ปี ผู้คร่ำวอดในวงการศิลปะมากกว่า 5 ปี มีความเชี่ยวชาญการวาดภาพสีน้ำมันสไตล์ Pop Surrealism โดยได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจาก Mark Ryden และ Ron English ผลงานชิ้นใหม่ของเขามักเกิดจากเหตุการณ์ในยุคปัจจุบัน อ๊อฟ สมิธ เป็นที่รู้จักอย่างมากในหมู่ชาวอเมริกันที่รักงานศิลปะ ผลงานได้รับตีพิมพ์และเผยแพร่ในนิตยสารชื่อดังและเว็บไซต์ของนิวยอร์ก สหรัฐอเมริกา อาทิ ตีพิมพ์บนปกนิตยสาร Direct Art นิตยสาร Hidden Treasure Art และ นิตยสาร Year Book ในปี 2557 นอกจากนี้ อ๊อฟ สมิธ ยังเป็นหนึ่งในผู้วาดภาพในนิตยสาร Visual Artistry เล่มเดือนมิถุนายน อ๊อฟ สมิธ ยังเคยได้ร่วมโชว์ผลงานศิลปะที่ Limner Gallery ในปี 2555, West Gallery และ Arch Enemy Art ในปี 2557 ที่ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกาอีกด้วย

Aof Smith, a bright and talented Thai artist, is exhibiting his paintings in “SKEPTICAL”, expressing his perception and imagination through the wonders of Pop-surrealism. The exhibition will be on view from June 26th through to July 31th, 2015 at Subhashok The Arts Centre (S.A.C.).

Reflecting upon his journey and perspectives towards on-going social situations, Aof Smith’s collection of 35 oil paintings juxtapose imaginative souls and the hidden dark side of the reality in surreal settings through his own style of pop surrealism, inspired by two renowned artists - Mark Ryden and Ron English. The main characters in Aof Smith’s work are a fluffy bulldog named Furry, whose curiosity is posted onto everything around him, and a girl who represents pure innocence, revealing the chaotic world, each character revealing feelings of excitement and fear, as well as confusion.

The refinement and delicacy of Aof Smith’s work had made his paintings irresistibly famous and remarkable, particularly in the U.S., where many of his best work has been published. “I live freely: I observe and absorb from my experiences. I watch as people build lives and follow their dreams and I look at the different aspects of life with curiosity -they become my experience, part of which is depicted in my work.” said Aof Smith.

Indulge your eyes with the imaginative exhibition, while your other senses are dancing to lively music from DJ Boo and DJ Em from Slur. The grand opening is on June 26th between 6pm – 10pm at Subhashok The Arts Centre (S. A. C) on Sukhumvit 39.

About the artist
Aof Smith is a 28 years old Thai artist who has been active in the local art scene for over 5 years. Aof specialises in pop surrealism and oil painting, drawing inspiration and influences from Mark Ryden and Ron English. Aof’s recent works lay foundations in current affairs, which are warmly welcome by American art enthusiasts and are published in many art-dedicated websites and magazines in the United States, such as on the cover of Direct Art; Hidden Treasure Art; and Year Book magazine 2014. Moreover, Aof Smith was also one of the painters contributing to the magazine Visual Artistry for June issue in the same year. Other American exposures also include group exhibitions at the Limner Gallery (2012), West Gallery (2014) and Arch Enemy Art (2014).
