"Eleganza Extravaganza Cats" by Vipoo Srivilasa, a captivating exploration of Thai folklore with a queer lens, draws inspiration from the play 'Chaiyachet' of the Rama II era. Through the spotlight on 'Nang Maew', a character challenging gender norms, the exhibition unveils queerness in classic Thai literature, showcasing flamboyant sculptures that demand attention.

Adorned in gold, the cat sculptures invite viewers to reflect on identity and societal acceptance. Collaborating with sound artist Sirasar Boonma, Srivilasa adds a dynamic layer, guiding visitors through the complexity of the queer experience. This exhibition sparks dialogue on visibility and societal acceptance beyond the queer community, challenging the need for external validation.

"Eleganza Extravaganza Cats" solo exhibition by Vipoo Srivilasa will be on view from 16 December 2023 - 16 March 2024. SAC Gallery invites everyone to experience the eleganza extravaganza on opening reception and meet the artist himself, who is coming from Melbourne, Australia, on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 4:30 p.m. onwards at the 1st floor, Art Centre Bldg., SAC Gallery
