นิทรรศการ "มลพิษ : Pollution" ผลงานโดย กันตภณ เมธีกุล (Kantapon Metheekul) และ นรภัทร ศักดิ์อาธรทรัพย์ (Naraphat Sakarthornsap) จัดแสดงระหว่างวันที่ 7 สิงหาคม - 4 ตุลาคม 2563 ณ RCB Photographers’ Gallery ชั้น 2 ศูนย์การค้าริเวอร์ซิตี้ : River City

มลพิษ
[มนละพิด] น. พิษที่เกิดจากความมัวหมองหรือความสกปรกของสิ่งแวดล้อม

มลพิษคือสิ่งรอบตัวที่เราหลีกเลี่ยงไม่ได้ มลพิษเปรียบเสมือนสิ่งที่คอยกัดกินและทำลายเราทีละนิดอย่างช้าๆ ซึ่งในขณะเดียวกันคนรอบตัวก็สามารถสร้างมลพิษได้ในทิศทาง และมีรูปแบบที่แตกต่างกัน ทั้งจากสภาพแวดล้อมทางตรงและทางอ้อม หรือในบางกรณีผู้คนก็สามารถทำให้เกิดมลพิษต่อสภาพจิตใจ  ส่งผลกระทบต่อความรู้สึกผ่านการกระทำบางอย่างทั้งที่เกิดจากความตั้งใจ หรือไม่ตั้งใจก็เป็นได้เช่นกัน

ในฐานะที่เราก็เป็นมนุษย์คนหนึ่งที่เคยกระทำผิดพลาด  เราจึงอยากสร้างพื้นที่ขึ้นมาซักที่ ที่ๆผู้คนจะได้ใช้เวลาพิจารณาสิ่งต่างๆรอบตัวมากขึ้นจากการกระทำในอดีตที่ส่งผลกระทบมายังปัจจุบัน ทั้งที่เกิดจากความตั้งใจหรือไม่ได้ตั้งใจก็ตาม การกระทำที่ส่งผลทำให้เกิดมลพิษต่อผู้คนหรือสิ่งต่างๆ รอบข้างที่ได้กลายเป็นรอยแผลเป็นต่อความรู้สึกจนยากที่จะจางหาย ในบางครั้งเราก็ไม่สามารถย้อนเวลากลับไปแก้ไขอดีตที่ผิดพลาดได้ แต่สิ่งเหล่านี้จะกลายเป็นเครื่องเตือนใจ ที่คอยสอนให้เรารู้จักวิธีการป้องกันไม่ให้มันเกิดขึ้นอีกในอนาคต

“หากเราเริ่มเปลี่ยนแปลงบางสิ่งบางอย่างให้ดีขึ้นได้ตั้งแต่ตอนนี้ เมล็ดพันธุ์ที่กำลังจะเติบโตในอนาคต จะได้รับโอกาสในการเบ่งบานในสภาพแวดล้อมที่ดีขึ้นกว่าเดิม”

ก้องกาน หรือ กันตภณ เมธีกุล ศิลปิน แนว POP ART เขาเริ่มผลิตงานศิลปะอย่างจริงจัง หลังจากจบจากมหาวิทยาลัยศิลปะ และอยู่ในวงการครีเอทีฟโฆษณา กว่า3ปี เขาเริ่มเป็นที่รู้จักจากผลงาน Teleport Art ที่เริ่มจากการทำ Street Art New York งานของเขาเล่าถึงชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ในปัจจุบัน ในสังคมแห่งทุนนิยม ที่ทุกคนต่างดิ้นรน หาสิ่งที่ดีกว่าให้ชีวิต รวมไปถึงเรื่องเพศ และความเท่าเทียม เขาเปิดมิติใหม่ๆที่จะพาทุกคนไปในโลกแห่งความหวัง และโลกในอุดมคติ ผ่านทางหลุมดำและสัญลักษณ์ต่าง ๆ ในงานของเขา เช่นงานของเขาที่วาดผู้นำประเทศ Trump และ คิมจองอึง ผู้นำสหรัฐอเมริกา และ เกาหลีเหนือ ทะลุประตูมิติมาจูบปากกัน ในช่วงที่สองประเทศกำลังมีปัญหาขัดแย้งรุนแรง

งานของเขาได้แสดงในหลายๆที่ และในหลายๆประเทศ เหมือนเขาได้เปิดประตูมิติ ให้งานของเขา ได้ไปในที่ต่าง ๆ รอบโลก เช่น New York, Taipei, Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo, Bangkok เป็นต้น ในหลากหลายรูปแบบ ทั้ง Exhibition, Sculpture, Painting, Street art และ Mural art

นรภัทร ศักดิ์อาธรทรัพย์  มักนำเสนอเรื่องราวต่าง ๆ ทั้งในเรื่องของเพศสภาพ และความไม่เท่าเทียมกันในสังคมผ่านงานศิลปะภาพถ่ายและงานศิลปะการจัดวาง โดยมีดอกไม้หลากหลายชนิดเป็นตัวละครหลักในการดำเนินเรื่องราว ซึ่งดอกไม้หลากหลายชนิดที่นรภัทรใช้มักมีที่มาและความสำคัญอันลึกซึ้ง นั่นทำให้ดอกไม้ของเขากลายเป็นกุญแจสำคัญในการไข เพื่อหาคำตอบที่เขาได้แอบซ่อนเอาไว้ในผลงานศิลปะอย่างแนบเนียน ซึ่งในบางครั้งภาพถ่ายดอกไม้ที่แสนสวย และนุ่มนวลของนรภัทร อาจมีที่มาที่เกิดจากความพังพินาศของสภาพภายในใจของเขาก็เป็นได้

ผลงานของนรภัทรในช่วงแรกมันแสดงออกถึงความท้าทายธรรมชาติในการเก็บรักษาความสดของดอกไม้ แต่แล้วก็ถูกพัฒนาจนกลายเป็นความท้าทายของอำนาจ และอิทธิพลที่เกิดขึ้นในสังคมผ่านผลงานภาพถ่ายดอกไม้หลากหลายชนิดเหล่านี้ ดังนั้นอย่าเชื่อดอกไม้อันแสนสวยงามที่ปรากฎอยู่ตรงหน้า แต่ควรหาคำตอบบางอย่างที่เขาได้แอบซ่อนเอาไว้ บางทีเรื่องราวที่นรภัทรเผชิญหรือต้องการนำเสนอ อาจเป็นเรื่องราวเดียวกันกับที่หลายๆคนกำลังดิ้นรนอยู่อย่างหลีกหนีไม่ได้ บนพื้นฐานของสังคมที่เต็มไปด้วยความไม่เท่าเทียม.

POLLUTION

/pəˈluːʃn/ noun the presence of blemish or poisonous substances caused by the dirtiness of the environments

Pollution is in the surroundings that we can never avoid. It is slowly ravaging and damaging us. At the same time, the people around us can also produce pollution in their different manners and directions, with the direct or indirect effects of the environments. In some cases, people can cause pollution to the mind, effecting the feelings with certain actions. Whether or not they were done intentionally.

As an imperfect human with history of mistakes, we want to create a space for people to ponder upon the things around them, the things they did in the past, intentionally or unintentionally. The actions that have put out pollution to the people and things around us, wounding us from inside out, becoming traumas that hardly fade away. It is impossible to turn back time to fix the history we don’t like and these are the reminders for us to prevent the causes of those pollution in the future.

“If we start changing something for the better from this moment on, the seeds we are planting will have the chance to grow and blossom in the better environments.”ongkan (Kantapon Metheekul) graduated from the school of arts at Silpakorn University in Bangkok. Shortly thereafter, Gonkarn moved to New York where he spent 3 years working in creative departments of advertising agencies. In his spare time, he created street art and illustrations centered on the idea of him being transported through time and space to his homeland. His work, which he named “Teleport Art”, gained notoriety in the New York street art scene. Living in New York, he witnessed everyday life in the material world: people striving for a better life, gender and equality. The hope in an ultimate utopia being found by the subject of his art being found through a black hole.

Gongkan’s art incorporates unique symbols; black space, black circle, subtly implied or overlaid in his work. In his drawings of US President Donald Trump and the leader of the Democratic People’s republic of Korea (North Korea) Kim Jong-Un, the pair are teleported to a newly found dimension, kissing each other, despite a stark difference in ideology between the two nations.
Gongkan works in various media and materials: sculptures, paintings, street art, paint, fiberglass, metal… and even ice-cream. His work has been shown around the world, in New York, Taipei, Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo, and Bangkok, to name but a few.

Naraphat Sakarthornsap (b. 1991, Bangkok, Thailand) lives and works in Bangkok. In many of his works, Naraphat Sakarthornsap presents stories of inequality in the society through photography and installation art, in which flowers play the leading roles. Many kinds of flowers that Naraphat uses usually comes with profound meanings. Those flowers have become the keys to finding the answers that are neatly hidden in the works of art. And sometimes the photographs of these delicate flowers of Naraphat may possibly come from the deepest part of his devastated heart.
Naraphat’s early works presented the challenge against nature in trying to prolong the freshness of the flower before he develops the ideas to become the challenge against power and influence in the society through the pictures of these flowers. Therefore, do not believe in what the flowers in front of you appear to be. But look for the messages these flowers are hiding. Perhaps, what Naraphat is facing and trying to present is the same as the ones many others are inevitably struggling with, over the standards in the society, where inequalities are all around them.
