We are delighted to announce the opening of a new and exciting art venue dedicated to showcasing emerging and established local and french artists. Envisioned and realized through a unique creative collaboration between Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit and renowned French art advisor, Martin Gerlier, S Gallery opened on February , 2015, with an intriguing exhibition of works by French photographer, Charles Maze.  

Located in the heart of vibrant downtown Bangkok, the S Gallery will act as an important cultural portal for art lovers wishing to discover inspirational works in a variety of media by Thai and french artists. Martin Gerlier, the gallery curator, is a respected art advisor with an in-depth knowledge of the art world in Bangkok, Basel, London, New York, and Paris. As the founder of MoonStar Fine Arts Advisors his portfolio includes prestigious private clients, luxury brands, museums, art fairs, auction houses, and artists.  At S Gallery,  Martin Gerlier will present an art programme designed to enhance the experience of each visitor, from the casual observer to the most sophisticated connoisseur or critic. New exhibitions will be hosted every two months and will include works by painters, photographers, sculptors, as well as installation artists. 

The inaugural exhibition at S Gallery is featuring the stunning photographs of Charles Maze. His works are a contemporary interpretation of “anamorphose”. An optical phenomenon first developed in the 15th century and used by Leonardo da Vinci, Holbein and Dürer, an anamorphose is a distorted projection or perspective requiring the viewer to use special devices or occupy a specific vantage point to make sense of the image. Charles Maze has taken this journey further by developing a computer supported tool that can be applied to photography and create his own anamorphoses. Whether in black and white or through vivid colours, he presents his favourite themes: futuristic landscapes of a megalopolis, the silent universe of Mother Nature, and distant unidentifiable crowds.

On the inaugural night of each exhibition, S Gallery will invite art lovers to a private viewing, after which the space will be open to guests and the public seven days a week. S Gallery will also be available as an engaging VIP space for intimate parties, exclusive openings, elegant events, and other magnifique experiences.

The S Gallery will enrich the cultural sensibilities of its guests, foster a greater awareness and appreciation of contemporary art, and reach audiences that might otherwise overlook Bangkok as an art destination.

The gallery is open everyday from 10am to 10pm
