“Trace of life”

The drawing of a young girl’s face that looks so bright and innocence with the powder marks on her face. The light-colored yellow powder that appears on her face, cheeks, and forehead is called the Tanaka powder (mean is following), which has the component of herbs originated in Burma. It was used as the Burmese’s cosmetic for many ages.

Pranai used 2 simple things to be a medium to created details of an artwork with the technic of overlay colors, which create cracks on the picture and it makes the picture looks more interesting than the normal picture of a local girl.

The meaning from the picture of a local girl could be in the negative way which might looks dirty in the eyes of people who has lack of knowledge and experience.Dirtiness maybe occurs only in the personal sights and opinions.Everything mentioned are the things that occur in the different sights and understanding. The artist has realized that the nature’s way of beauty is about to be gone by the globalization that changes very fast.
Pranai Kasemtavornsilpa graduated bachelor degree in Fine art from Burapha Univerity and master degree from Silpakorn University.

Later on he has join the exhibition to show his set of artworks and received outstanding reward from his artwork Toshiba Art Exhibition “ Bring Good Thing to life” and also the 2nd reward from “ Krungthai ” in 2014. The Tanaka powder is the herbal powder from the bark of Tanaka with botanical name “LICODIA ACIDISSIMA” found only in the middle part of Burma around Bukham and Mandalay. Knowing that Burmese have been using Tanaka for more than 200 years, every house will always have a bit of Tanaka in front of their mirror.
