นิทรรศการศิลปะ "the air of familiarity" ผลงานโดย อภิชาติ ยิ้มย่อง (Apichat Yimyong), ชัยวัช เวียนสันเทียะ (Chaiwat Wiansantia), น้ำฝน อุดมเลิศลักษณ์ (Namfon Udomlertlak) และ ทิพย์วรรณ นรินทร (Tippawan Narintorn) จัดแสดงระหว่างวันที่ 6 - 28 กุมภาพันธ์ 2558 และจะมีพิธีเปิดในวันศุกร์ที่ 6 กุมภาพันธ์ 2558 เวลา 19.00 น. ณ Cloud

นิทรรศการนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของโครงการ “Run & Learn: New Curatorial Constellations” จัดโดย Japan Foundation, Bangkok. ซึ่งโครงการในประเทศไทยร่วมจัดโดยหอศิลปวัฒนธรรมแห่งกรุงเทพมหานคร

ด้วยความแตกต่างทางความคิด สามารถนำไปสู่ความขัดแย้งต่างๆ ในสังคม จากเรื่องเล็กกลายเป็นเรื่องใหญ่ และอาจนำไปสู่ประเด็นปัญหาระดับสากล ทั้งความขัดแย้งทางการเมือง การแบ่งแยกเชื้อชาติ ความเหลื่อมล้ำของชนชั้น หรือแม้กระทั่งสงครามศาสนา

เราจะเห็นข่าวคราวความขัดแย้งมากมายที่เรามักอ้างอิงสาเหตุมาจากความแตกต่างด้านความคิด อาทิ ปัญหาในพื้นที่สามจังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้ของประเทศไทย ปัญหาชนกลุ่มน้อยชาวโรฮิงญาในไทยและพื้นที่อื่นๆ ปัญหาชาวมุสลิมอุยกูร์ในประเทศจีน เป็นต้น เหตุใดความแตกต่างทางความเชื่อ จึงก่อให้เกิดความขัดแย้งที่นำไปสู่ความรุนแรงต่างๆ ได้ การมีความคิดเห็นที่แตกต่างไม่ใช่เรื่องผิด แต่การไม่ยอมรับความแตกต่างหรือไม่ ที่เป็นสาเหตุของความขัดแย้งที่มองไม่เห็นในสังคมที่มีความหลากหลาย

ทุกคนต่างมีความเชื่อที่แตกต่าง มีสิ่งที่เคารพหรือยึดเหนี่ยวที่ไม่เหมือนกัน โดยสะท้อนออกมาให้เห็นในรูปแบบของแนวคิดและวิถีชีวิตของแต่ละบุคคล ซึ่งไม่อาจปฏิเสธได้ว่าสิ่งที่เราได้กระทำหรือแสดงออกมานั้น ต่างเชื่อมโยงไปถึงพื้นฐานความคิดหรือความเชื่อที่ปลูกฝังอยู่ข้างในตัวเรานั่นเอง ความเชื่อที่ว่านี้ เป็นได้ทั้งความเชื่อในครอบครัว ความเชื่อทางศาสนา หรือแม้กระทั่งความเชื่อทางการเมือง เป็นต้น ซึ่งความเชื่อจะก่อให้เกิดภาวะทางจิตใจขึ้นในบุคคล ซึ่งเป็นพื้นฐานที่นำไปสู่การกระทำต่างๆ โดยสมัครใจ

นิทรรศการศิลปะร่วมสมัย “the air of familiarity” นำเสนอผลงานศิลปะร่วมสมัย ทั้งรูปแบบของภาพยนตร์สั้น วิดีโอ บันทึก ภาพถ่าย และศิลปะการจัดวาง นำเสนอแนวความคิด มุมมอง จากเรื่องราวเรียบง่ายที่เป็นส่วนหนึ่งในชีวิตประจำวัน อันสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงรากฐานและความเชื่อทางความคิดที่เป็นแก่นของทุกชีวิต มิได้ต้องการตัดสินความถูกผิดหรือความดีงาม ของความเชื่อที่แตกต่างกัน เพียงแต่ตั้งข้อสังเกต ถึงสภาพแวดล้อมรอบตัว ความคุ้นเคยที่เราพบเห็นในชีวิตประจำวัน เพื่อนหรือคนรู้จักที่เราพบเห็น จากสิ่งเล็กๆ ที่สามารถสร้างความตระหนักรู้ถึงความแตกต่างที่เป็นเรื่องธรรมดา

This exhibition is one of the project titled “Run & Learn: New Curatorial Constellations” organized by Japan Foundation, Bangkok. The project in Thailand is co-organized by Bangkok Art and Culture Centre

Different thoughts and attitudes could lead to social conflicts. Small problems could become huge, and lead to international level kind of issues, including political conflict, racial segregation, social inequality, or even religious war.

We often see the news about conflicts relating social disagreement, such as problems in the Southern part of Thailand, issues on the Rohingya refugees in Thailand and other places, so as the Muslim Uyghur in China. The question is why having various believes could create conflicts and lead to violence. Having different opinions is not wrong. But not accepting differences can lead to invisible conflict, among diverse society.

We all have our own ways of belief and respect, which individually reflect our thought, attitude and ways of living. It is undeniable that what we have done or expressed are related to our fundamental idea or belief within us. Such beliefs are as the belief in each family, religious belief, or even political belief, which somehow will create mental cause in each person, leading to any actions voluntarily.

“the air of familiarity” contemporary art exhibition, will present contemporary artworks in form of short film, video, journal, photography and installation art. They will be presented through the concept with simple views among everyday life, that reflects fundamental belief and idea which is life essence. The concept does not intend to judge over righteousness nor immorality among diverse beliefs. It only tends to observe the surroundings, familiarity we see on a daily basis, friends or acquaintances we meet, and all little things that can raise awareness on common differences.
