นิทรรศการการออกแบบ "ของเก่า ดีไซน์ใหม่ : new olds" จัดโดยสถาบันความสัมพันธ์วัฒนธรรมต่างประเทศ (อีฟ่า) ร่วมกับภัณฑารักษ์ โฟลเคอร์ อัลบุส จัดแสดงระหว่างวันที่ 3 ตุลาคม - 2 พฤศจิกายน 2557 และจะมีพิธีเปิดในวันที่ 3 ตุลาคม 2557 เวลา 18.30 น. ณ อาคาร F คริสตัล ดีไซน์เซ็นเตอร์ (ซีดีซี) : Crystal Design Center (CDC)

สถาบันความสัมพันธ์วัฒนธรรมต่าง ประเทศ (อีฟ่า) ร่วมกับภัณฑารักษ์ โฟลเคอร์ อัลบุส นำเสนอนิทรรศการ new olds - Design between Tradition and Innovation (ของเก่า ดีไซน์ใหม่ - ขนบนิยมผสมนวัตกรรมใหม่) ด้วยผลงานดีไซน์ร่วม 60 งาน ซึ่งถือเป็นการสำรวจหาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างผลิตภัณฑ์ดั้งเดิมตามขนบนิยมในอดีตกับนวัตกรรมใหม่ในงานออกแบบผลิตภัณฑ์ร่วมสมัย นิทรรศการนี้แสดงผลงานดีไซน์ที่มีประเด็นความคิดน่าสนใจและน่าทึ่งมากมาย รวมถึงแนวทางอันหลากหลายในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานของบรรดานักออกแบบ โดยมุ่งประเด็นการใช้วัสดุ การออกแบบสร้าง การคิดโครงแบบ กระบวนการผลิต และการนำผลิตภัณฑ์ดั้งเดิมตามขนบนิยมมาพัฒนาต่อยอดหรือดัดแปลงให้เป็นงานดีไซน์ใหม่ ในนิทรรศการนี้มีนักออกแบบอิสระ และทีมนักออกแบบ ทั้งจากเยอรมนี และสหรัฐฯ รวมทั้งหมด 45 ท่าน เข้ามาร่วมแลกเปลี่ยนแนวคิดแนวทางการออกแบบกันอย่างเข้มข้น นอกจากนี้ ผู้จัดยังได้เน้นถึงบทบาทการแสดงงานในระดับนานาชาติ ด้วยการจัดเป็นนิทรรศการสัญจรเพื่อเปิดแสดงงานไปทั่วโลก พร้อมกับจัดกิจกรรมเสริมพิเศษเพื่อเชื่อมโยงกับวัฒนธรรมออกแบบของผู้คนในประเทศที่จัดแสดงนิทรรศการด้วย

นิทรรศการนี้พยายามที่จะให้อรรถาธิบายแก่งานดีไซน์ร่วมสมัย โดยกำหนดแผนกลยุทธ์การจัดการให้ครอบคลุมรอบด้าน พร้อมไปกับคำนึงถึงบทบาทในระดับนานาชาติด้วย ซึ่งผู้จัดได้ใช้กลยุทธ์ 3 แนวทางประกอบกันคือ หนึ่ง เชิญสาธารณชนร่วมชื่นชมผลงานดีไซน์ที่แสดงอยู่ในนิทรรศการซึ่งมีทั้งความสวยงาม น่าทึ่ง เปี่ยมด้วยมนต์เสน่ห์เร้าใจ น่าหลงใหล และหาดูได้ยาก สอง จัดกิจกรรมคู่ขนานและกิจกรรมเพื่อการศึกษาในรูปแบบของสัมมนาเชิงปฏิบัติการซึ่งออกแบบให้สอดคล้องกับความสนใจของผู้คนและนักออกแบบมืออาชีพในประเทศที่นิทรรศการสัญจรไปถึง สาม จัดทำเว็บบล็อกเพื่อเปิดพื้นที่แสดงผลงานของนักออกแบบท้องถิ่นผู้เข้าร่วมศึกษางานแนว new olds ที่แสดงอยู่ในนิทรรศการ หรือในงานแสดงเสริมพิเศษ นอกจากนี้ ยังมีการจัดทำบันทึกผลงานออกแบบผลิตภัณฑ์ทั้งหมดที่ได้จากการทำกิจกรรมคู่ขนานของนิทรรศการสัญจร ซึ่งจะช่วยส่งเสริมให้เกิดการพูดคุย แลกเปลี่ยนแนวทางการออกแบบร่วมสมัยทั้งทางทฤษฎีและปฏิบัติระหว่างกันในประเทศต่าง ๆ ซึ่งมีแนวคิดการออกแบบและรูปแบบวัฒนธรรมที่แตกต่างหลากหลาย

Together with curator Volker Albus the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen e. V. (ifa) and the Goethe-Institut Thailand with the Crystal Design Center present “new olds. Design between Tradition and Innovation”, with sixty exhibits that explore the relationship between tradition and innovation in contemporary design. The variety and topicality of the many approaches are bundled around the themes material, construction, configuration, production, and traditional use. Forty-five designers and design teams from Germany, other European countries and the USA enter here into an intensive dialogue. The international nature of the show is further emphasised by its world tour with its connections to the local cultures on site.

The exhibition aims to show the international and complex nature of this discourse in contemporary design in three ways. Firstly, we invite the general public to enjoy the visual and sensual presentation of the exhibits. Secondly, the accompanying events and education program will focus on dialogue in workshops that are tailored to each location of the exhibition tour, and the design experts working there. The third element is documentation of the exhibition in a blog, showing the work of local designers exploring issues related to new olds that is presented in the exhibition space or in a special additional show. Documenting all the works that are produced in accompanying events during the entire tour will further facilitate the dialogue and exchange of ideas on contemporary theory and design practice in a variety of nations and cultures.
