นิทรรศการ “เขตปกครองพิเศษ : under construction” ผลงานโดย ขวัญชัย ลิไชยกุล (Kwanchai Lichaikul) จัดแสดงระหว่างวันที่ 15 มีนาคม –12 เมษายน 2557 และจะมีพิธีเปิดในวันที่ 15 มีนาคม 2557 ตั้งแต่เวลา 18.00 น. ณ Numthong Gallery

นิทรรศการ “เขตปกครองพิเศษ : under construction” เป็นนิทรรศการเดี่ยวอีกครั้งของ ขวัญชัย ลิไชยกุล ผ่านไปเกือบสองปีกับการเตรียมผลงานชุดใหม่ จากผลงานวาดเส้นด้วยพู่กันนำเสนอภาพเมืองในมุมมองแบบ bird’s eye view พัฒนาการในผลงานของขวัญชัยเริ่มต้นจากการคลี่คลายวิธีเล่าเรื่องแบบจิตรกรรม ฝาผนังไทย โดยเฉพาะการเน้นให้เห็นมุมมองต่อการทำความเข้าใจโลกและลำดับเวลาเชิง 2 มิติ จนปัจจุบันผลงานของขวัญชัยพัฒนาขึ้นจนสามารถขยายความให้เห็นภาพตัวแทนของ สังคมปัจจุบัน

ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการนำเสนอนัยยะของพื้นที่ทางการเมือง เศรษฐกิจ ศาสนา การดำรงชีวิต ฯลฯ โดยเฉพาะการจัดการพื้นที่เชิงวิพากษ์ ผลงานหลายๆ ชิ้นของเขาแสดงให้เห็นสัดส่วนของพื้นที่ธรรมชาติ การเมือง และการดำรงชีวิตของมนุษย์ผ่านการวาดเส้นที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์ด้วยเทคนิคการด้นสด (improvisation) ทิวทัศน์ที่แม้จะถูกจินตนาการขึ้น แต่ก็เผยให้เห็นโลกอันอลหม่านที่อ้างอิงจากหลักความจริง ผลงานของขวัญชัยไม่เพียงเป็นการนำเสนอแนวคิดการเมืองของพื้นที่ แต่ยังจัดวางให้ผู้ชมได้ตระหนักเห็นภาพกว้างของความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างมนุษย์ กับโลกใบนี้อีกด้วย

“Under Construction” is a solo exhibition by Kwanchai Lichaikul after spending almost two years in preparing this new collection of paintbrush drawings to portray urban environment in bird’s eye view. Lichaikul’s development began from his unravelling of storytelling method in Thai mural paintings, with an emphasis on howthe world and the order of time are perceived and comprehended in two dimensions. Now his works has been further developed and expanded as representations of today’s society.

In his effort to exploremeanings behind areas of politics, economics, religions and living, especially the critical approach towards area management, many of his works display the proportion of nature, politics and human living through his unique skill of drawing and improvisation technique. Although these landscapes are imaginary, they depict the chaotic world based on reality. Lichaikul’s works not only present the idea on politics of area, but also reveal to the eyes of the audience awide-angle perspective of the relationship between human and this world.
