นิทรรศการ A Sleep of Reason Produces Fantasy โดย ภูมิภัทร อุษาประทุมบาน นำเสนอภาพถ่ายที่ท้าทายมุมมองและการรับรู้ของผู้ชมเกี่ยวกับ "ความเป็นจริง" และ "ความเสมือน" ผ่านการสร้างภาพที่สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความก้ำกึ่งระหว่างสองสิ่งนี้ ภูมิภัทรชี้ให้เห็นถึงการรับรู้ที่อาจบิดเบือนโดยตาของผู้ชม ซึ่งในบางครั้ง การมองเห็นที่รวดเร็วนำไปสู่การตัดสินที่ผิดพลาด ความเป็นจริงถูกปรับให้เข้ากับบริบทใหม่ ถูกจัดให้อยู่ในสถานะที่แตกต่างไป— เหมือนความฝันในยามหลับใหล ซึ่งบางทีอาจเติมเต็มสิ่งที่ขาดหายหรืออาจเสริมแต่งเกินความจำเป็น

เอนกายกลืนกล่อมสำนึก เนรมิตโลกตามใจหมาย
…ครั้นเนตรเบิกประจักษ์เหตุ กาลปรากฏประการบรรดาลผล
ดั่งความฝันเล็ดลอดมาครอบงำจิตยามตื่น

ในกระบวนการสร้างสรรค์ นำภาพมาผสานและต่อเติม สร้างมิติใหม่ให้กับภาพถ่าย โครงสร้างถูกดัดแปลงแต่ยังคงสภาวะอยู่กับตัวบทเดิม ศิลปินได้นำองค์ประกอบของภาพมาประกอบใหม่ให้เกิดความหมายและมิติที่ลึกขึ้นของมุมระนาบ เป็นการทบทวนภาพเก่าผ่านโครงสร้างใหม่ ซึ่งกระบวนการนี้เองทำให้เกิด "ความจริง" ของภาพที่ผู้ชมไม่สามารถรับรู้ได้จากภาพเดิมโดยตรง

…เหตุไฉนใคร่รู้ความ ตามสำนึกจิตสู่ขวัญครองกาย
นิทรรศการนี้เปิดโอกาสให้ผู้ชมพิจารณาความจริงของภาพถ่าย โดยการเชื่อมโยงโครงสร้างเดิมของตัวตนหรือบุคคลกับมิติของวัตถุผ่านภาพ จึงสามารถสะท้อน "ความจริง" ที่อยู่ในขอบเขตของจินตนาการและการตีความที่ไม่มีที่สิ้นสุด

The exhibition “A Sleep of Reason Produces Fantasy” by Pumipat Usapratumban presents photographs that challenge viewers' perceptions of "reality" and "virtuality." Through photographs that examine the conflicts between them, Pumipat highlights the way human perceptions can be distorted and influenced. Sometimes, rapid observation leads to certain presumptions, and reality is adapted to a new context, placed in a different state — like a dream during a moment of slumber, which at times may fill in what is missing or embellish beyond necessity.

"Lying back, lulling consciousness, creating the world as desired...
As eyes open to reality, time reveals its effects.
As if dreams slip into the waking mind."

In his creative process, images are fused and extended, creating new dimensions within the photograph. Structures are altered while maintaining their original context. Pumipat breaks down and reassembles the elements of the photographs, giving rise to a different meaning and dimensions within the images. This re-examination of traditional photography through a new framework brings forth a "reality" that may not be visible in the original image.

"...Why seek to understand, as consciousness anchors the mind to the body."

This exhibition offers an opportunity to reflect on the truth within photography by fusing the original structure of identity or personas with the dimensionality of objects through images. It thereby reflects the "truth" that lies within the bounds of imagination and limitless interpretation.
