“Things Occupying Space” นิทรรศการเดี่ยวครั้งแรกในประเทศไทยของ Jun.GK ศิลปินเกาหลีผู้มีความเชี่ยวชาญในการใช้แก้วและวัสดุหลากหลายชนิด สร้างเป็นประติมากรรมจัดวางที่มีลักษณะแปลกตา เพื่อสื่อสารประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวและการวิพากษ์วิจารณ์ปรากฏการณ์ทางสังคมร่วมสมัยศิลปินเชื่อว่าบรรทัดฐานและมโนทัศน์ที่ถูกกำหนดขึ้นในสังคมนั้นมีอิทธิพลอย่างมากต่อทุกแง่มุมของชีวิตของมนุษย์ทุกคน เขาเปรียบอิทธิพลที่ครอบงำพื้นที่ทางสังคมว่าเป็นดั่งพลังที่มองไม่เห็นและจับต้องไม่ได้ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นขนบธรรมเนียม การตระหนักรู้ หรือกฎระเบียบต่างๆ ที่ได้รับการยอมรับอย่างกว้างขวาง ล้วนเป็นปัจจัยสำคัญในการก่อร่างโครงสร้างอันซับซ้อนที่ส่งผลต่อพฤติกรรมของปัจเจกบุคคล ตลอดจนพลวัตของความสัมพันธ์ซึ่งกันและกัน
การแทรกแซงบริบทของพื้นที่ห้องนิทรรศการโดยผลงานประติมากรรมจัดวางเหล่านี้ ไม่เพียงแต่จะถ่ายทอดสุนทรียภาพอันน่าตื่นตา ทว่ายังสื่อสารความหมายโดยนัยเกี่ยวกับผลกระทบของปัจจัยต่างๆ ที่สร้างแรงกระทำต่ออัตลักษณ์ของตัวตนภายใต้บริบททางสังคม
“Things Occupying Space” the first solo exhibition in Thailand by Jun.GK, a Korean artist renowned for his unique sculptures crafted from glass and various materials. These thought-provoking works convey the artist's personal experiences and offer a critique of contemporary social phenomena.
The artist believes that societal norms and concepts prescribed by society deeply permeate all aspects of our lives. He views the forces dominating social spaces as intangible and invisible powers—customs, perceptions, procedures—that are socially sanctioned. Consequently, he sees the complex structure of society as greatly influencing individual behaviour and relationship dynamics.
The intrusion of these installation sculptures into the gallery space not only offers a visually striking aesthetic experience but also conveys subtle meanings about the impact of various factors that influence the identity of individuals within a social context.
