"In Fiction, We Trust"
งานแสดงเดี่ยวของ AITOY กับงานศิลปะชุดมหากาพย์ที่เป็นดังภาษาเพื่อสื่อสาร ตั้งคำถาม ถกเถียง สำรวจความแตกต่าง ความเชื่อและความจำเป็นในการมีอยู่ขององค์กรแห่งศรัทธา ศิลปินเปรียบเปรยถึงการติดกับดักลุ่มหลงความจริงของเรื่องแต่งกับซากวัตถุที่ถูกทิ้งในอวกาศโดยมนุษย์หลังการสำรวจความจริงของจักรวาล ซึ่งการสร้างความเชื่อและการสร้างวัตถุนั้นล้วนถูกสร้างขึ้นโดยมนุษย์เองเพื่อยกระดับปัญญาของมนุษยชาติให้เหนือสัญชาตญานและความเข้าใจที่เคยเป็น

วัตถุที่มนุษย์สร้างขึ้นแล้วถูกทิ้งไว้ในห้วงอวกาศเมื่อเลิกใช้งาน เศษซากแห่งนวัตกรรมที่ใช้ในการไขความลับจักรวาล เมื่อหมดหน้าที่ ก็กลายเป็นเศษลอยเคว้งอยู่นอกโลก ครั้นจะพึ่งพาแรงโน้มถ่วงให้ดูดกลับเข้ามาก็ถูกบรรยากาศเผาไหม้จนไม่เหลือซากก่อนที่จะตกถึงพื้น จะขึ้นไปเก็บกวาดก็ดูจะเป็นการสิ้นเปลือง จึงต้องถูกปล่อยอยู่แบบนั้น

แต่มนุษย์ไม่ได้ใช้แค่วิทยาศาสตร์เป็นเครื่องมือในการค้นหาความจริงของจักรวาล ระบบความเชื่อที่ถูกสร้างขึ้นมาเป็นหลักพันปี ที่ผลิตเศษเปลือกใยห่อปรัชญาแห่งชีวิตออกมาแบบไม่รู้จบ ยิ่งพัฒนาการของอารยธรรมไปไกลมากเท่าไหร่ ดูเหมือนยิ่งเกินความจําเป็นและบดบังเป้าหมายที่แท้จริงมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ เมื่อองค์ประกอบคือศรัทธาที่เกิดจาก ความกลัว ความอยาก ความทุกข์ และความหวัง มนุษย์จึงต้องยอมจํานนต่ออํานาจในจินตนาการ อํานาจที่เป็นตัวกําหนดพฤติกรรม ใช้ศีลธรรมเป็นตัวชี้วัดคุณค่า บูชาความดี และ วางท่าแข็งกร้าวเพื่อปลอบประโลมจิตใจที่อ่อนแอ หวังเพียงได้กอดเศษเสี้ยวสวรรค์เอาไว้ในวันที่หมดลมหายใจ

"....ทั้งชีวิตของผม การวาดรูปเป็นวิธีการสื่อสาร ใช้ทั้งในการสร้างเพื่อน ใช้จีบสาวจนกลายเป็นวิธีใช้หาเงินแต่มากไปกว่าการเป็นศาสตร์และศิลป์ที่ผมใช้หล่อเลี้ยงชีวิต การวาดรูปคือเครื่องมือที่ผมใช้ค้นหาหนทางแห่งความเชื่อ ผมเกิดมาในครอบครัวพุทธ เรียนหนังสือในโรงเรียนคริสต์ ที่อยู่ในพื้นที่ชุมชนอิสลาม ผมโตมาท่ามกลางระบบความเชื่อที่แตกต่างกันอย่างสิ้นเชิง สิ่งเดียวที่เหมือนกันคือทุกระบบความเชื่อล้วนถูกสร้างขึ้นมาโดยมนุษย์ - แต่ละระบบมีความจริงที่สมมติขึ้นซึ่งโดยวัฒนธรรมที่แตกต่างกัน จากช่วงเวลาที่ต่างกัน ในห้วงประวัติศาสตร์อันเป็นนิรันดร์

อะไรคือความจริงที่ถูกต้อง เมื่อทุกความจริงคือสิ่งที่มนุษย์ประดิษฐ์ขึ้น ?

ท่ามกลางความสับสน ผมพบความรู้แจ้งจากเครื่องมือที่ผมสร้างขึ้นเพื่อสำรวจสิ่งประดิษฐ์ทางความเชื่อของผม เครื่องมือนั้นคือ การวาดภาพ วัยเด็กของผมหมกมุ่นอยู่กับหนังสือเก่าเล่มหนึ่ง ที่ผมเจอในห้องสมุดโรงเรียน หน้ากระดาษฉีกขาด ยับเยิน แต่เต็มไปด้วยภาพประกอบของ แฟรงค์ ฟราเซ็ตต้างานที่แสดงถึงสิ่งดึกดำบรรพ์ ถูกสร้างขึ้นมาบนความดิบและการแสดงออกในสรีระทางเพศอย่างสุดโต่ง ภายใต้ธีมแฟนตาซี ซึ่งผมรู้สึกเหมือนมันเป็นเวอร์ชั่นผู้ใหญ่ ของแอนิเมชั่นเรื่องโปรดในวัยเด็ก เรื่อง ญาติไดโนเสาร์เจ้าเล่ห์ (The Land Before Time)

ส่วนสไตล์ที่เป็นของผมเองถูกหล่อหล่อมขึ้นเป็นเวลานานหลังจากนั้น ด้วยแรงบันดาลใจในงานของ แฟรงค์ มิลเล่อร์ เทคนิคการใช้หมึกที่เป็นรากฐานการวาดภาพการ์ตูน วิธีการสร้างมิติด้วยการเทียบเคียงของแสงและเงา รูปทรง ความเปรียบต่างของสี การเปิดรับแสง องค์ประกอบในสไตล์งานของ แฟรงค์ มิลเล่อร์ กลายเป็นตัวอักษรประกอบภาษาที่ผมอยากพูดมาทั้งชีวิต ภาษาของผมเอง ที่สามารถแสดงถึงความมั่นใจ อำนาจ และสำคัญที่สุดคือความเชื่อ  สไตล์ของผมมีรากฐานมาจากการ์ตูนคอมมิค และภาพประกอบนิยายแฟนตาซี ในงานช่วงแรกผมได้ทดลองกับสไตล์ศิลปะที่เกิดจากงานโฆษณาชวนเชื่ออนาคตนิยมที่แพร่หลายในหมู่ผู้นำเผด็จการช่วงสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 2 อย่างรูปทรงเรขาคณิตในต้นศตวรรษที่ 20  สำหรับผม ดูเหมือนว่าทั้งสองอย่างนี้หล่อหลอมร่างมนุษย์ให้กลายเป็นสิ่งมีชีวิตแห่งอนาคตที่ยิ่งใหญ่และกักขังร่างกายของเราไว้ในเวลาเดียวกัน

THE FICTIONAL TRUTH - ขยะอวกาศ งานแสดงเดี่ยวในครั้งนี้คือการขยายสไตล์นั้น แต่แทนที่จะเน้นไปที่สีที่มืดมนที่ทำให้เกิดความกลัว ผมอยากจะสร้างคอลเลคชันนี้ด้วยสีสันที่สดใสเพื่อที่จะปลุกเร้าให้จิตวิญญาณของมนุษย์ไม่มีวันสูญหายและแสดงให้เห็นว่าเราส่องแสงสว่างที่สุด เมื่อเราต้องต่อสู้กับพันธนาการจากรุ่นสู่รุ่น ไม่มีใครที่เกิดมาบริสุทธิ์ผุดผ่องและมนุษย์ก็ไม่ควรจะต้องบริสุทธิ์ขนาดนั้นผลไม้ต้องห้ามนั้นเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของเราเสมอ ความมืดที่ขัดแย้งอยู่ร่วมกับแสงในตัวเรา เป็นความซับซ้อนที่สวยงามของมนุษย์ ”

นิทรรศการ THE FICTIONAL TRUTH - ขยะอวกาศ ครั้งนี้ ศิลปิน Aitoy ยังได้ศิลปินรับเชิญ " bariyard.io " ร่วมจัดแสดงผลงานศิลปะชุด Prayer(Player) งานศิลปะในรูปแบบ Sound Remixing, Interactive Visual

ศิลปิน " bariyard.io " ได้กล่าวถึงผลงานในชื่อชุดงาน Prayer(Player) ไว้ว่า

"...มีคำสอนและการปฏิบัติมากมายให้เชื่อ บ้างก็นำไปสู่ความดี บ้างก็นำไปสู่ความพินาศและเสื่อมทราม พิธีกรรมเติมแต่งแก่นของความรู้และเปลี่ยนแปลงหลักการไป ความเชื่อบางส่วนถูกใช้เป็นเครื่องมือในการบรรลุอำนาจสูงสุด
ในฐานะผู้เล่น คุณมีทางเลือกในการเลือกว่าจะเชื่อและอธิษฐานเพื่ออะไร..."

"In Fiction, We Trust"

The solo exhibition by AITOY and the epic series of artwork which is a language for communication, questioning, discussion, investigation, and difference. Beliefs and needs for the existence of faith organizations. The artist refers to the trappings of fiction to the remains of objects left in space by humans after exploring the truth of the universe. Beliefs and creations were created by humans to elevate humanity's intelligence beyond instinct and understanding.

Man-made objects are left behind in space when they are decommissioned. Innovation debris used to unlock the secrets of the universe. When duty ended it became a floating piece of debris outside the world. When it had to rely on gravity to suck it back in, it was burned up by the atmosphere until there was nothing left before it hit the ground. Going up to clean up seems like a waste. So it had to be left like that.

However, humans do not just use science as a tool to find the truth of the universe. Belief systems that have been created over thousands of years that produce endless fragments of fibers wrapped in the philosophy of life. The further the development of civilization, the more It seems more and more redundant and obscures the real goal. When the elements are faith that arises from fear, desire, suffering, and hope, man must submit to the power of imagination. The power that determines behavior uses morality as a measure of value, worship goodness, and take a tough stance to comfort the weak heart. Hoping only to hold onto this sliver of heaven on the day I take my last breath.

Artist Statement

“... Drawing has always been my way to communicate. Making friends, Impressing girls, and eventually - putting food on the table. But more than a craft that I utilized to create a way of living. Drawing is the tool I use to find a way of believing. I come from a Buddhist family. Educated in a Catholic school that resides in an Islamic neighborhood. I grew up surrounded by very different belief systems. The only commonality was their man-made origin - each with a fictitious truth crafted by different cultures from different points in time of the infinite span of history.

What is the right truth when every truth is crafted from fiction?
In that confusion, I find clarity in my own self-made tool to explore my own fiction - drawing. My childhood was fixated on an old book I found in the school’s library. These torn up pages with illustrations by Frank Frazetta. The hyper-sexualized and stark depictions of primal subject matters under a layer of fantasy setting, I found, was something of a mature progression to a favorite animation from my childhood - The Land Before Time.
My own style was formed much later by the works of Frank Miller. The inking technique is deep-rooted in comic drawing, the creation of dimensions from the bold juxtaposition of light and shadow, shapes, contrasts, exposures. The foundation of Frank Miller’s style became the alphabets of the language I have always wanted to speak. My own language to express confidence, power, and most importantly - belief. My style has always been grounded in comics and fantasy illustrations. In my debut collection, I experimented with the art style that was birthed from propaganda futurism that was popular among dictatorships during World War II. The early 20th Century geometric form, to me, seemed to both mold the human figure into a larger than life futuristic entity and imprison our body at the same time.

"THE FICTIONAL TRUTH" this solo show is the extension of that style, but instead of emphasizing on darker and more oppressive colors that instill fears, I want to create this collection with vivid colors to immortalize the spirit of humanity and illustrate how we shine the brightest when we fight against the generational shackles of our forefathers. We were never pure and we’re not supposed to be pure. The forbidden fruit has always been a part of us - the inner darkness juxtaposing our inner light, forming the beautiful depth of humanity. ”

In this exhibition, Aitoy also collaborates with a guest artist " bariyard.io “ to create and show an artwork titled Prayer(Player), a Sound Remixing, Interactive Visual work.

The artist, bariyard.io expressed about the work titled Prayer(Player) as follows:

“… There are many ways of teaching and practicing to believe. Some leads to good,  some leads to destructions. Ritual decorated the core of teaching and somehow modified the principle. Some belief has been used as a tool to reach supremacy.

As a player, you have your own choice. Choose, Believe and Pray. …”

THE FICTIONAL TRUTH - ขยะอวกาศ, a solo exhibition by AITOY will show the thirty pieces of paintings, sculptures, art prints, video interactive art and mixed media works. The exhibition will be on view from 10th March to 28th April 2024 on 1st floor of Joyman Gallery, Bangkok. We cordially invite everyone to join the opening reception that will be held on 10th March 2024, 5:00 PM onwards.
