Jirapat Tatsanasomboon is well known as a Thai artist who is famous both in Thailand and abroad. He presents the conflict between the old and new cultures in order to be a representative of storytelling in a confrontation between Thai traditions and overflowing influenced traditions of western capitalism; making exchanges in explicit contentious cultures.

“East Meets West”, his solo exhibition this time he presents the story of the meeting of differences between western and eastern cultures, making a compatibly connection through arts which he appropriated from the world master paintings in different eras and times; combined with the Thai paintings through his new interpretations and with the use of Thai contexts in terms of hospitality, generosity and sympathy. These are Thai identity that builds a connection as well as a reflection on a social aspect and current politics that refers to beliefs, equality, classes and sexual oppression including controversial opinions between conservatism and modernism by expressing in satirical and ridiculous way.

จิรภัทร ทัศนสมบูรณ์ เป็นที่รู้จักกันอย่างดีในฐานะศิลปินไทย ที่โด่งดังทั้งในไทยและต่างประเทศ นำเสนอผลงานถึงความขัดแย้งทางวัฒนธรรมสิ่งเก่ากับสิ่งใหม่ เพื่อเป็นตัวแทนการเล่าเรื่องของการเผชิญหน้ากันระหว่างขนบธรรมเนียมประเพณีไทยและการไหลบ่าเข้ามาของลัทธิทุนนิยมตะวันตก ทำให้เกิดการแลกเปลี่ยนทางวัฒนธรรมที่มีความขัดแย้งกันอย่างชัดเจน

“East Meets West” นิทรรศการเดี่ยวครั้งนี้ ศิลปินนำเสนอเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับการพบกันระหว่างความแตกต่างทางวัฒนธรรมของตะวันตกและตะวันออก ให้เกิดการสอดประสานกลมกลืนกันผ่านผลงานจิตรกรรม โดยหยิบยกเอางานจิตรกรรมชิ้นเอกของโลกในต่างยุคต่างสมัย นำมาผสมผสานกับภาพจิตรกรรมไทย ผ่านการตีความใหม่ โดยใช้บริบทแบบไทย ๆ ที่มีความเป็นมิตรไมตรี, มีความเอื้อเฟื้อเผื่อแผ่, ความเห็นอกเห็นใจซึ่งกันและกัน ซึ่งเป็นเอกลักษณ์ดีงามของไทย ให้เกิดเป็นปฏิสัมพันธ์ อีกทั้งยังคงสะท้อนถึงมุมมองทางสังคม-การเมืองในปัจจุบัน ที่พูดถึงความเชื่อ ความเท่าเทียม ชนชั้น การกดขี่ทางเพศ ตลอดจนการต่อสู้กันระหว่างความคิดแบบอนุรักษ์นิยม และความคิดแบบหัวก้าวหน้า โดยแสดงออกมาในเชิงเสียดสีและขบขัน.
