เมื่อ " ความรัก " ย่างกรายมาร่วมชีวิต
ไม่ว่าความรักนั้น...
จะทำหน้าที่ได้สมบูรณ์หรือบกพร่อง
ระยะเวลาของความรักนั้นจะสั้นหรือยาว
แต่ " ความรัก " นั้นไม่เคยถูกลืมนิทรรศการศิลปะชื่อยาว " สิงโตโยนหัวใจ 41 ดวงของม้าลายให้ฉลามกินใต้ต้นแอ๊ปเปิ้ลริมบึงวอลเดน " งานแสดงเดี่ยวโดยศิลปิน เทอดเกียรติ หวังวัชรกุล นิทรรศการครั้งนี้ศิลปินสร้างสรรค์งานจิตรกรรมถ่ายทอดห้วงความรู้สึกถึงความรักความสัมพันธ์ของตนและคนรักที่มีต่อกันในบริบทหลังการแยกทาง โดยงานนิทรรศการครั้งนี้เปรียบดังบทบันทึกสำคัญของช่วงชีวิตศิลปิน เขาได้ใช้สัญลักษณ์ภาพสิงโตแทนตัวของศิลปิน ( เขา ) และม้าลายคือคู่รักที่ได้แยกทางกัน ( เธอ ) ทั้งสิงโตและม้าลายที่ร่วมอยู่ในเหตุการณ์บางอย่างริมบึงวอลเดน
บึงวอลเดนเป็นที่จดจำไปทั่วโลกจากหนังสือเรื่อง " วอลเดน " ที่ถูกเขียนขึ้นเมื่อ 174 ปีที่แล้ว ( ค.ศ.1846 ) โดย ‘เฮนรี่ เดวิด ธอโร’ (Henry David Thoreau) บึงวอลเดนที่กล่าวถึงในหนังสือนั้นเป็นสถานที่ที่ผู้เขียน ( ธอโร ) ได้ไปใช้ชีวิตอย่างสงบ สันโดษ เพื่อสำรวจชีวิตตนเองควบคู่ไปกับการเฝ้าสังเกตปรากฏการณ์ธรรมชาติริมบึงวอลเดนนั้น
" ....ช่วงเวลาสัก 1-2 ปี ที่ผ่านมา ผมได้ลองสำรวจชีวิตตัวเองอย่างจริงจัง นึกถึงเรื่องราวต่างๆที่เกิดขึ้นกับชีวิตที่ผ่านมา และเรื่องที่สำคัญที่สุดเรื่องหนึ่งคือ การแยกทางกันกับภรรยาเพราะการใช้ชีวิตและวิธีคิดหลายๆอย่างมันไปด้วยกันไม่ได้ โดยเราได้มีลูกชายด้วยกัน1คน การมีลูกยังทำให้เราได้มาเจอกันอยู่บ่อยๆ เพราะเราแบ่งเวลาสลับช่วยกันเลี้ยงลูก การเลิกรากันกลับทำให้ทุกอย่างมันดีขึ้น เราไม่ค่อยทะเลาะกัน ต่างคนต่างมีชีวิตความเป็นอยู่สบายใจขึ้น ต่างคนต่างมีเวลาและสมาธิทำงานที่ตนเองรักมากขึ้น เราทั้งสองให้เกียรติกันมากขึ้น .... ผมได้ทำงานชุดสำคัญชุดหนึ่ง เป็นรูปหัวใจขนาดซ้ำๆกัน 41 ดวง เพื่อที่จะบอกผู้หญิงคนหนึ่งว่า ถึงเราจะไม่ได้ใช้ชีวิตร่วมกัน แต่ความรักของผมก็ยังคงอยู่ที่เดิม ซึ่งตอนนี้เธออายุย่าง 41 ปีแล้ว..."
ถ้อยคำศิลปิน เทอดเกียรติ หวังวัชรกุลศิลปินไม่ได้สร้างงานจิตรกรรมทั้งหมดขึ้นโดยขนบของการระบายสี แต่เป็นการนำลูกบอลทรงกลมสร้างเทคนิคจุดเป็นรูปร่าง รูปทรงอย่างอิสระ และมีความสมบูรณ์ของปริมาตรที่น่าทึ่งด้วยการกดหมุนมือเป็นจังหวะหนักเบา ในงานชุดนี้ศิลปินยังใช้เทคนิคเดียวกันกับการทำจุดแตกแขนงมาเป็นอีกแบบ ด้วยวิธีการนำลูกบอลนั้นลากเส้นอย่างรวดเร็วและในเส้นนั้นมีน้ำหนักแสงเงาในตัว ทำให้เกิดมิติลึกตื้นของภาพที่แปลกตา
ภาพหัวใจดวงเล็กดวงใหญ่หลากสีสัน คละด้วยภาพสัญลักษณ์ที่สื่อความนัยจากใจศิลปิน ทั้ง สิงโต ฉลาม แอปเปิ้ลและบึงวอลเดน ร้อยเรียงคล้ายดังประโยคบอกเล่าเรียบง่ายที่ศิลปินนั้นพร่ำเอ่ยบอกตนเองในวันที่ความรักนั้นกำลังเปลี่ยนบทบาทไป
ศิลปิน เทอดเกียรติ เฝ้าพิจารณาความรู้สึกของตนเองในขณะที่ชีวิตรักกำลังเดินทางผันผ่านไปในอีกฤดูกาล ศิลปินได้ทบทวนความรู้สึกตนเองผ่านสมาธิในการทำงานศิลปะ เพื่อทำความเข้าใจกับภาวะบีบคั้นโหยหา และปีติยินดียอมรับในความจริงของชีวิตที่ไม่อาจเหนี่ยวรั้งความเปลี่ยนแปลง การสร้างงานศิลปะชุดนี้คือหนึ่งในคำตอบที่เด่นชัดแพรวพราวท่ามกลางภาพเลือนของเส้นทางชีวิตครั้งใหม่ เป็นบทบันทึกครั้งใหญ่ที่ศิลปินได้ใช้พลังกาย กำลังใจเต็มที่อย่างที่สุด

that ‘love’ will never be forgottenAn art exhibition with a uniquely long name ‘A Lion Threw 41 Zebra's Hearts to Feed Sharks Under the Apple Trees by Walden Lagoon’ is a solo exhibition by Therdkiat Wangwatcharakul. The artist creates each painting to express his own experience on love and relationships between himself and a former partner after their separation. This solo exhibition serves as a diary that documents a period of the artist’s life. He uses a lion as a symbol of himself and a zebra as a symbol of his ex. Both a lion and a zebra were once together, sharing moments by the Walden Lagoon.
The Walden Lagoon is universally remembered from the book ‘Walden’ by Henry David Thoreau, written 174 years ago (1846). It is the place where the author (Thoreau) lived peacefully on his own to inspect life, along with observe natural phenomena around the lagoon.
" I’ve been observing my life thoroughly in these last couple of years. I’ve thought about one of the most important incidents in my life which is a separation from my wife because of our differences. We have a son together. Having a child makes us acquaintances because we still have to co-parent. The separation works for both of us. We argue less. Each of us becomes more relaxed, our lives less tense. She and I have time for ourselves, separately. Therefore, we have more time for our precious career. We respect each other more... And I get to work on an important project which consists of a heart, 41 hearts to be exact. So, 41 of a heart-shaped art to express my love for one woman. Even though we live separate lives now, my love remains the same. She’s turning 41 this year..."
The artist’s words
Therdkiat WangwatcharakulThe artist doesn’t create paintings entirely from the conventional technique of a brushstroke, but rather from a round-shaped ball that used for creating dots. The dots then create shapes freely without the limitation of an edge, as well as the completeness of volumes from a twist of a wrist, both firmly and softly. In this collection, the artist uses not only the same dot technique, but also extends the technique into drawing a line with a ball swiftly. In that line, there’re shape and shadow, which create peculiar depth and dimension.
Therdkiat observes his own feelings when his love life was drifting away like the turning of the seasons. He revisits his past through concentration and focus on his art. He tries to understand the pressure, the longing and the acceptance in life. In the end, no one can resist change. The creation of this set of art is a clear answer in itself, in midst of such unclear situations and new life’s paths. This exhibition is such a big chapter in life that the artist has been putting his heart and soul into.
