Jirapat Tatsanasomboon is a Thai artist famous both in Thailand and overseas especially in Korea, New York, China and Singapore. Internationally acclaimed for his artistic endeavours, he has so far been the only artist from Thailand who was featured in the book called ‘100 Painters of Tomorrow’ published by Thames & Hudson and had an opportunity to showcase his work, alongside Andy Warhol’s, in the exhibition ‘15 Minutes Eternal’ at Art Science Museum, Singapore. His main expertise lies in his ability to utilise unique narration technique and convey general affairs through his work of art in ancient painting re-interpreted in pop-art style that incorporates the contrast between western and Thai arts. Though his works simply epitomise the diversity of cultures, appreciation of his past experience, historical anecdotes of iconic figures in various eras and significant events in the past, the content are elaborately expressed through advanced painting technique that produces long-lasting visual impact to spectators.    

The exhibition ‘Retrospective’ by Jirapat Tatsanasomboon l, held at the Number 1 Gallery, The River City, aims to display his impressive works of art, some of which might not have been exhibited before. Consequently, we would like to invite all spectators to visit the gallery to appreciate the series of paintings that are highlights of three selected eras.

The first era illustrates the encounter between representatives of western and eastern spheres, encompassing invasion, seizure and the advent of both old and new phenomena that are amalgamating. Such concepts are expressed through Thai characters in the ancient literary work ‘Ramayana’ and western comic heroes.

The second era exudes the integration of Thai paintings with those by internationally acclaimed artists namely Andy Warhol, Robert Indiana, Piet Mondrian, etc. Selected iconic Thai characters are featured in paintings in order to reflect the satirical and comical interpretations of social and political situations involving justice, equality and values of humanity.

The last era, which is the present time, seeks to present the harmony of diverse cultures expressed through juxtaposition of western artists’ masterpieces, from Renaissance to present time, and Thai works of art in order to create novel pieces under the concept that chronicles development of paintings from past to present. These series of paintings exist to record significant events such as the reign of COVID-19.

Widely recognised by curators in renowned galleries overseas, Jirapat Tatsanasomboon had countless opportunities to display his works in international exhibitions including the art exhibitions in Seoul, South Korea in 2003, New York in 2006, Singapore in 2008, Beijing, China in 2008, New Delhi, India in 2009, Art Monaco in 2010, Arteclasica 10, Argentina in 2010, Bahrain Art Fair in 2014, SEMANGAT X Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2016, Art Fair Philippines in 2019 and Art Central Hong Kong in 2019. In addition to being a part of various national and international exhibitions and precious art awards that he has received, it appears that his artistic accomplishments also capture special attentions of art collectors and connoisseurs worldwide who are actively seeking to acquire his works through Art Auction Christie’s Hong Kong and Art Auction Singapore.

จิรภัทร ทัศนสมบูรณ์ ศิลปินไทยที่โด่งดังทั้งในไทยและต่างประเทศ เช่น เกาหลี นิวยอร์ก จีน รวมถึงสิงคโปร์ นอกจากนั้น จิรภัทรยังเป็นศิลปิน ชาวไทยเพียงคนเดียวที่ถูกกล่าวถึงในหนังสือ ‘100 Painters of Tomorrow’ โดยสำนักพิมพ์ Thames & Hudson รวมไปถึงผลงานhighlight ภายใต้นิทรรศการ 15 Minutes Eternal โดยจัดแสดงเคียงกับผลงานจริงของ Andy Warhol ที่ Art Science Museum ณ ประเทศสิงคโปร์ ด้วยฝีมือและผลงานที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์ โดดเด่นทั้งในแง่ของการหยิบประเด็นต่าง ๆ ขึ้นมาสร้างสรรค์และเทคนิควิธีการในการเล่าเรื่อง ในรูปแบบจิตรกรรมไทยสมัยโบราณ มาตีความหมายใหม่ในสไตล์ป๊อปอาร์ตผ่านการผสมผสานที่ดูขัดแย้งระหว่างศิลปะตะวันตกและความเป็นไทย เล่าเรื่องราวต่างๆอย่างหลากหลายแสดงให้เห็นถึงวัฒนธรรมที่แตกต่าง อีกทั้งยังเป็นการบอกเล่าเรื่องราวความประทับใจ รวมถึงเป็นการจดบันทึกประวัติศาสตร์ของบุคคลที่เป็น iconic แต่ละยุคสมัย หรือแม้แต่เหตุการณ์ทางประวัติศาสตร์ นำเสนออย่างเข้าใจง่ายและตรงไปตรงมา หากแต่เต็มไปด้วยมนตร์สะกดของเนื้อหาและเทคนิคการเพ้นต์ของผลงาน ที่ตราตึงและเป็นที่จดจำมาจนถึงทุกวันนี้

นิทรรศการ Retrospective โดยจิรภัทร ทัศนสมบูรณ์ ซึ่งจะจัดขึ้น ณ number 1 gallery สาขา River city ถือเป็นการรวบรวมผลงานที่น่าสนใจ ซึ่งผลงานบางชิ้นอาจจะไม่เคยได้ถูกเผยแพร่ หรือ เคยเห็นจากที่ไหนมาก่อน นับเป็นความตื่นเต้นและความประทับ ที่จะชวนทุกท่านได้มาชมผลงานอันเป็น Highlight ของแต่ละยุค
ภาพผลงานจิตรกรรมของจิรภัทร ที่จัดแสดงนั้นแบ่งเป็น3ยุคดังนี้ ยุคแรกเริ่มจะเป็นงานในลักษณะการเข้าปะทะกันระหว่างตัวแทนทางวัฒนธรรมตะวันตกและตะวันออก แสดงออกถึงการบุกยึดเข้ารุกรานกัน ตลอดจนถึงการเข้ามาระหว่างสิ่งเก่าและสิ่งใหม่ที่พยายามผสานกลมกลืนกัน ผ่านตัวละครไทยในรามเกียรติ์และตัวฮีโร่,ตัวการ์ตูนต่างๆในฝั่งตะวันตก เป็นหลัก

และในยุคถัดมาเริ่มผสมผสานผลงานจิตรกรรมไทยเข้ากับผลงานของจิตรกรชื่อดังอาทิเช่น Andy Warhol, Robert Indiana, (Piet Mondrian,ฯลฯ เป็นต้นตลอดจนการตีความสถานการณ์ทางสังคม, การเมือง เน้นพูดถึงความยุติธรรม-ความเท่าเทียม คุณค่าความเป็นมนุษย์ ในเชิงเสียดสี, ตลกขบขัน โดยผ่านตัวละครไทยบางตัวที่มีคาแรคเตอร์ชัดเจนเป็นต้น

และ ณ ปัจจุบัน ยังเป็นการผสมผสานกลมกลืนกันทางวัฒนธรรมโดยหยิบยืมนำผลงานจิตรกรรมชิ้นเอกของศิลปินตะวันตกในแต่ละยุคตั้งแต่ยุคเรเนซองค์จนถึงยุคปัจจุบันมาจัดให้อยู่ร่วมกันและผสานกับงานจิตรกรรมไทยเพี่อให้เกิดเป็นจิตรกรรมใหม่ภายใต้แนวคิดการบันทึกการพัฒนาการของงานจิตรกรรมในแต่ละยุคมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน แต่ทั้งนี้ยังคงไม่ทิ้งที่จะใช้งานศิลปะในการบันทึกเหตุการณ์หรือสถานการณ์ต่างๆที่เกิดขึ้น เช่น สถานการณ์ช่วงโควิดเป็นต้น
จิรภัทร ทัศนสมบูรณ์  ศิลปินผู้ได้รับการยอมรับจากภัณฑารักษ์ต่างประเทศ และได้เข้าร่วมแสดงผลงานในเวทีระดับนานาชาติอย่างเช่น Seoul Koreaปี 2003, “New York USA ปี2006”, “Singapore ปี 2008”, “Beijing China 2008”, “New Delhi, India 2009”, “Art Monaco ปี 2010”, “Arteclasica 10, Argentina (2010) “"Bahrain Art Fair ปี2014","SEMANGAT X exhibition KL Malaysia ปี 2016","Art Fair Philippines ปี 2019", "Art Central Hong Kong ปี2019" เป็นต้น และผลงานแสดงกลุ่มและเดี่ยวในประเทศไทยมากมาย นอกจากนี้ผลงานของจิรภัทรยังเป็นที่ประจักษ์ในอีกหลากหลายช่องทางไม่ว่าจะเป็นการเข้าร่วมการแสดงงาน และรางวัลต่างๆที่ได้รับหรือแม้แต่การเข้าร่วมประมูลผลงานใน "Art auction christie's Hongkong" และ  ""Art auction Singapore" ที่ถูกหมายปองโดยนักสะสมทั่วโลก.
