นิทรรศการ "ชาตินี้ที่รักเราคงรักกันไม่ได้ : Unloveable" ผลงานโดย คธา แสงแข (Kata Sangkhae) จัดแสดงระหว่างวันที่ 30 พฤศจิกายน 2562 - 12 มกราคม 2563 และจะมีพิธีเปิดในวันที่ 30 พฤศจิกายน 2562 เวลา 18.00 น. ณ 1PROJECTS Gallery

ในผลงานที่ผ่านๆมาของ คธา แสงแข สามารถขยายความความรู้สึกต่างๆ ในแต่ละช่วงชีวิต มีทั้งปัจจัยภายนอกและภายในเข้ามากระทบและรบกวนจิตใจของศิลปิน คธา มักตั้งคำถามกับปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้นในสังคมของเรา เช่น การเมือง เศรษฐกิจ และคุณภาพชีวิตของคนในสังคม โดยใช้การนำเสนอที่หลากหลาย ทั้งศิลปะจัดวาง วิดีโอ และประติมากรรม ทั้งนี้ชิ้นงานทั้งหมดของคธา ก็จะถูกจัดการด้วยกระบวนทัศน์แบบ Radical และตั้งคำถามต่อผู้มีอำนาจอย่างถึงพริกถึงขิง แต่ตัวงานก็ยังมีความงามของ Visual Element ดึงดูดให้เราเข้าไปค้นหาความหมาย เหมือนกับการเอาแท่งเหล็กยัดใส่ในหมอนแล้วฟาดหมอนนั้นใส่ผู้มีอำนาจที่ถูกตั้งคำถามจากงานของศิลปิน และผู้มีอำนาจในสังคมตรรกะป่วยๆของเรานั้น ก็หมายถึงในทุกระดับของสังคม ตั้งแต่สถาบันครอบครัว โรงเรียน วัด หน่วยงานรัฐ แม้กระทั่งเอกชน โดยครั้งนี้มีการสวมบทบาท “SK” Secret Killer เป็นตัวตนที่ “คธา” สร้างขึ้น “กลายเป็น” ศิลปินเพลงแร็ป ที่เขียนเพลงแร็ปออกมาจากความกดดันในชีวิตจากปัจจัยจากคนใกล้ตัวและสังคมการเมืองผสมปนเปกัน เพราะแนวดนตรี Hip Hop นั้นถือกำเนิดขึ้นมาในสภาวะกดดัน และขาดเสรีภาพในการแสดงออก สุดท้ายเมื่อเราเข้าไปอ่านงานศิลปะของเขาอย่างจริงจัง ก็จะเหมือนโดนฟาดหัวด้วยคำถามหนักๆว่า..... ในความรักความสัมพันธ์ในแต่ละระดับนั้น ......ใครคือคนที่กำลังควบคุมเรา...

Works of Kata Sangkhae usually express various feelings. At each stage of life, there are both external and internal factors affecting and disturbing the minds of artists. Kata often questions the problems that occur in our society such as politics, economy and quality of life of people in society. Using a variety of presentations, including installations, video works and sculptures. All of Kata's work deals with a radical paradigm and fiercely questions authority. But the work still has the beauty of the Visual Element that attracts us to search for meaning. The artists questions can be likened to a metal rod hidden in a pillow to then being slammed into the authority’s face. And the authority in our sick logical society, it means all levels of society, institution of family, schools, temples, government agencies, and even private organizations. This time the role of "SK" Secret Killer is the identity "Kata" created "Becoming" a rap artist who writes rap songs from life pressure due to factors from people close to him and other parts of politics. Because the Hip Hop music genre was born under pressure and lacking freedom of expression. Finally, when interpreting his art more seriously, it feels like being hit with a heavy question. In each level of love and relationships, Who are the persons really controlling us?

Artist
Kata Sangkhae (b. 1976, Thailand) he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts from the School of Fine and Applied Arts, Bangkok University,Thailand, before continuing his studies in the Master’s Degree in the Sculpture Area at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), USA. Kata achieved his PhD from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University (RMIT), Australia. He is currently a professor at Bangkok University. In his role as a contemporary artist, he has created works relating to identity, urbanization, tourism, cultural environments, and socio-political issues stemming from changing places and locations. Media the artist uses include a variety of presentations, including installations, video works and sculptures. Kata’s works were previously exhibited in solo shows at VER Gallery, Kathmandu Photo Gallery and Bangkok University Gallery in Thailand. The artist also participated in the inaugural Bangkok Art Biennale 2018. Notable group exhibitions include shows at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), 100 Tonson Gallery and Tadu Contemporary Art Gallery. Overseas participations include exhibitions in Austria, South Korea, Australia, China, Luxembourg, Nepal, Singapore, and USA (L.A.).
