นิทรรศการภาพพิมพ์ "M3ZZOTINT" ผลงานโดย ไกรศักดิ์ จิรชัยสกุล (Kraisak Chirachaisakul), วาฬ จิรชัยสกุล (Wal Chirachaisakul) และ คิด จิรชัยสกุล (Kit Chirachaisakul) จัดแสดงระหว่างวันที่ 14 พฤศจิกายน - 14 ธันวาคม 2562 ณ ศูนย์การค้าริเวอร์ซิตี้ : River City

ภาพพิมพ์เมซโซทินต์ (Mezzotint) สร้างสรรค์จากทองแดงแกะสลักหรือแม่พิมพ์เหล็กบนพื้นผิวที่ขรุขระเป็นบางส่วน เพื่อแสงเงาและขูดบางส่วนให้เรียบเพื่อให้เกิดพื้นที่ของแสง ซึ่งเทคนิคนี้ใช้กันอย่างแพร่หลายในศตวรรษที่ 17-19 อันเป็นช่วงเวลาที่การสร้างสรรค์งานพิมพ์มีการไล่เฉดสีอันนุ่มนวลและมีสีที่สดและดุจกำมะหยี่โดยไม่ต้องใช้เส้นหรือจุดอันเกิดจากเทคนิค เช่น การแรเงา และการวาดเส้นแสดงทรงแบบเส้นประสานหรือการวาดภาพเป็นจุดแต้ม ดังนั้นจึงนำมาใช้สำหรับการทำผลงานชิ้นจำลองของภาพจิตรกรรมที่มีชื่อเสียงในช่วงต้นศตวรรษที่ 17
โอญ่า เอย์ดิน (Oya Aydin) ภัณฑารักษ์

ไกรศักดิ์ จิรชัยสกุล เกิดวันที่ 15 มีนาคม 1962 ที่กรุงเทพฯ เขาสนใจด้านศิลปะตั้งแต่วัยเด็กและได้เข้าเรียนที่วิทยาลัยอาชีวศึกษาอาชีวศิลป์ในช่วงมัธยมปลาย และต่อมาได้ศึกษาที่มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร ซึ่งเขาได้เลือกเรียนศิลปะและภาพพิมพ์อยู่ 6 ปีแต่ต่อมาได้ออกจากมหาวิทยาลัยก่อนจบปริญญา

เขาเริ่มอาชีพแรกโดยเป็นฝ่ายศิลป์ทำแค็ตตาล็อกให้กับบริษัทเครื่องสำอางและเปิดร้านขายโมเดลของเล่นร้านแรกในประเทศไทย จนกระทั่งเหตุการณ์ความวุ่นวายทางการเมืองในประเทศไทยเมื่อปี 2010 จึงตัดสินใจกลับไปสู่สิ่งที่ละทิ้งมาประมาณ 20 ปีซึ่งก็คือ “การทำภาพพิมพ์” และยังคงทำต่อไปจนถึงปัจจุบัน

วาฬ จิรชัยสกุล จบการศึกษาที่วิทยาลัยช่างศิลป์ และจบการศึกษาด้านภาพพิมพ์ที่คณะจิตรกรรม ประติมากรรมและภาพพิมพ์ มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร
เขาได้รับรางวัลการประกวดภาพพิมพ์ครั้งแรกในปี 2011 “รางวัลที่ 4” The 8th Kochi International Trennial Exhibition of Prints และชนะการประกวดจากหลายๆ ประเทศ เช่น ญี่ปุ่น ไต้หวัน รัสเซีย แคนาดา ไทย
หลังจากจบการศึกษาในปี 2014 เขาสร้างบ้านให้เป็นแกลเลอรีงานศิลป์และสตูดิโอภาพพิมพ์โดยใช้ชื่อว่า Kalwit Studio & Gallery อยู่ใจกลางกรุงเทพฯ อีกทั้งได้ทำงานเป็นภัณฑารักษ์ ผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายศิลป์และได้ส่งมอบธุรกิจแกลเลอรีให้กับน้องชาย จากนั้นเขาจึงกลับไปเป็นศิลปินอย่างเต็มตัวด้วยเทคนิคจิตรกรรมสีน้ำมันและภาพพิมพ์เมซโซทินต์

คิด จิรชัยสกุล จบการศึกษาที่มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร คณะจิตรกรรม ประติมากรรมและภาพพิมพ์ โดยมีวิชาเอกคืองานพิมพ์ เขาเติบโตมาในสภาพแวดล้อมที่เต็มไปด้วยศิลปินในครอบครัว โดยเริ่มจากคุณพ่อผู้เป็นช่างพิมพ์ที่มีชื่อเสียงและพี่ชายผู้เป็นศิลปินภาพพิมพ์ที่คว้ารางวัลจึงมีอิทธิพลต่อเขาในด้านศิลปะโดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งงานพิมพ์

นิทรรศการจัดแสดงตั้งแต่วันที่ 14 พฤศจิกายน ถึง 14 ธันวาคม เปิดให้ชมโดยไม่เสียค่าใช้จ่าย

M3ZZOTINT

Mezzotint is a print made from an engraved copper or steel plate on which the surface has been partially roughened, for shading and partially scraped smooth, giving light areas. The technique was widely used in 17th-19th century  which allows the creation of prints with soft gradations of tone and rich and velvety tones without using line or dot based techniques like hatching, cross-hatching or stipple , therefore it was used for the reproduction of famous paintings in early 17th century.

Kraisak Chirachaisakul was born on March 15, 1962 in Bangkok, Thailand. Kraisak was interested in arts since he was very young and attended Archivasilp, the art college for his high-school years and then he went to Silpakorn University, where he studied Arts for over 6 years but left without any academic degree.

He started his first career as an art-work staff doing catalogue for the cosmetic company and then opened the first Toy and model figures store in Thailand. After the political turbulance of 2010 he decided to go back to what he had left behind for about 20 years, which is “Printmaking”, and keep on doing this until now.

Wal Chirachaisakul studied at the College of Fine Art, and graduated in Graphic Arts from Faculty of Painting and Sculpture at Silpakorn University, Thailand.
Wal got the first printmaking competition award in 2011 “Fourth Prize” The 8th Kochi International Triennial Exhibition of Prints and won prizes from many countries such as Japan, Taiwan, Russia, Canada, Thailand.

After graduated in 2014, he built his house to be an art gallery and printmaking studio called Kalwit Studio & Gallery in the center of Bangkok. He worked as a curator, Art director and then left his gallery business to his brother. Now he became full-time artist in both oil painting and mezzotint techniques.

Kit Chirachaisakul studied at Silpakorn University, Faculty of painting sculpture and graphic arts and finished printmaking as his major. As he was grown up in an environment with full of artists in the family, starting with his father being a famous printmaker and his brother an award winning printing artist influenced him towards art, particularly  printmaking.

This exhibition is free entry, starting from 14 November until 14 December.
