เพื่อจะทำความเข้าใจว่า “สภาวะก่อนเกิด-หลังตายคืออะไร?” “อดีต-อนาคตคืออะไร?” คามิน เลิศชัยประเสริฐ พิจารณา “ปัจจุบันขณะ” ซึ่งเป็นสัจธรรมที่เชื่อมโยงสภาวะ ก่อน-หลัง เข้าไว้ด้วยกัน

เป้าหมายในการสร้างสรรค์ศิลปะของคามิน คือการค้นหาความหมายและคุณค่าของการมีชีวิตอยู่ผ่านงานศิลปะและวัฒนธรรม ทั้งการวาดเส้น จิตรกรรม ทำสมาธิ อ่านหนังสือ คิดพิจารณา บันทึก ปั้นถ้วยชา ปั่นจักรยาน มีปฏิสัมพันธ์กับผู้คนรอบข้าง รวมถึงสังเกตจิตและความคิดของตนเอง กระทั่งพบว่าทุกสิ่งล้วนเกิดขึ้นใน “ปัจจุบันขณะ” เพราะปัจจุบันเป็นอนาคตของอดีต และเป็นอดีตของอนาคต ปัจจุบันเกิดขึ้น ตั้งอยู่และดับไปเร็วมากจนเรารู้สึกได้ถึงการมีอยู่และไม่มีอยู่ไปพร้อมกัน เป็นสภาวะที่ “ไร้กาลเวลา”

จากการทำงานชุดนี้ทำให้คามินเข้าใจถึงคุณค่าและเป้าหมายของชีวิตและพุทธศาสนา ว่าอยู่ที่การพยายามอยู่กับปัจจุบันขณะ ทุกการกระทำเกิดจากจิตที่เปี่ยมด้วยเมตตา คือเป้าหมายที่ปราศจากเป้าหมาย ไร้กาลเวลา ปราศจากเส้นแบ่งระหว่างผู้ให้ (Subjective) และผู้รับ (Objective) ไม่ว่าเราจะอยู่บนฝั่งหรืออยู่ในน้ำเพื่อคอยช่วยเหลือผู้อื่น มันอาจดูต่างกันทางกายภาพ แต่ไม่มีความต่างกันเลยทางจิตวิญญาณ เพราะเมตตาเป็นทั้งเหตุและผล รวมทั้งเป็นเป้าหมายและวิธีการในตัวของมันเอง เเละเมตตานี้เอง คือปัจจุบันขณะที่ไร้กาลเวลา

“ปัจจุบันขณะ ที่ไร้กาลเวลา” นิทรรศการย้อนหลังของ คามิน เลิศชัยประเสริฐ จัดแสดงครั้งแรกที่พิพิธภัณฑ์ศิลปะร่วมสมัย ใหม่เอี่ยม จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ และในระหว่างวันที่ 4 มีนาคม - 5 พฤษภาคม 2560 ที่นำทองแกลเลอรี กรุงเทพฯ คามินได้นำผลงานจิตรกรรมที่ยังไม่ได้จัดแสดงที่ไหนมาก่อน และเลือกสรรผลงานประติมากรรมเหมือนจริงของศิลปิน (ไม่มีอดีต ไม่มีปัจจุบัน ไม่มีอนาคต) ประติมากรรมหุ่นขี้ผึ้งของ ถิง ชู (เมตตา) ที่แฝงเรื่องราวอ่อนไหวของชีวิตเอาไว้ได้เสมือนมีลมหายใจ นำมาจัดแสดงในนิทรรศการชื่อ “ปัจจุบันขณะ ที่ไร้กาลเวลา (งานคัดสรร)”

In order to understand “what the state of before birth and after death is like?” or “what is past and future?”, Kamin Lertchaiprasert has considered “present moment” which is the truth connecting state of before and after together.

The goal of his creation of art is finding the meaning and value of living through artworks and culture, including drawing, sculpting, meditating, reading, considering, recording, molding tea cup, riding bicycle, interacting with others, and observing own mind and thought until he found that everything happens in “present moment” sincepresent is the future for the past and is the past for future. Present exists, prevails and perishes so fast that we could feel the existence and cessation at the same time as the state of “timeless”.

This set of artwork makes Kamin understands the value and purpose of life and Buddhism, which is to stay in the present moment and to conduct every action with a mind full of compassion. It is a goal without a goal, timeless, without border lines between the giver (Subjective) and the receiver (Objective). Whether we are helping others on land or in the water, which might look different physically, there is no difference at all spiritually. Because compassion is both the cause and the effect, the goal and the method in itself. And it is compassion that is the timeless present moment.

“The Timeless Present Moment”, the backward exhibition by Kamin Lertprasertchai was held firstly at MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum, Chiang Mai and will be held on 4th March – 5th May 2017 at Numthong Gallery, Bangkok. Kamin has presented the paintings, that have never been exhibited before, and has selected the realistic sculptures (No Past, No Present, No Future), the wax sculpture of Ting Chu (Living kindness), which consists the sensitive story of life just like it can breathe, with the name “The Timeless Present Moment (Selected works)”.
