นิทรรศการศิลปะร่วมสมัย "Human AlieNation" ผลงานโดย จิตติ เกษมกิจวัฒนา (Chitti Kasemkitvatana), นิพันธ์ โอฬารนิเวศน์ (Nipan Oranniwesna), นพไชย อังควัฒนะพงษ์ (Nopchai Ungkavatanapong) และ วันทนีย์ ศิริพัฒนานันทกูร (Wantanee Siripattananuntakul) จัดแสดงระฟว่างวันที่ 4 สิงหาคม - 3 กันยายน 2559 และจะมีพิธีเปิดในวันพฤหัสบดีที่ 4 สิงหาคม 2559 เวลา 18:30 น. ณ ท้องพระโรง หอศิลป์มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร วังท่าพระ

ศิลปะและมานุษยวิทยา แม้จะมีความแตกต่างทางปฏิบัติการและกระบวนการในการทำงาน แต่สิ่งที่ทั้งสองศาสตร์มีเป็นพื้นฐานร่วมกันก็คือต่างคนต่างสะท้อนให้เห็นสภาวการณ์ที่กำลังเป็นอยู่ และสิ่งที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นในสังคม

"เราทุกกลุ่มล้วนเป็นคนอื่นสำหรับคนอีกกลุ่มเสมอ" คำกล่าวของแมคอีวิลเลย์ (McEvilley, 1992:11) นักวิจารณ์ศิลปะสัญชาติอเมริกันถูกนำมาเปิดประเด็นสนทนาระหว่างนักมานุษยวิทยาฝึกหัดและศิลปินที่มีภูมิหลังและวิธีการทำงานสร้างสรรค์ที่แตกต่างกัน 4 คน ว่าด้วยบรรยากาศในสังคมไทยที่ถูกนิยามอย่างไม่เป็นทางการว่า นี่คือช่วงเวลาของการเปลี่ยนผ่านทางสังคมและการเมือง ในขณะที่คนฝั่งหนึ่งกำลังยื้อยุดฉุดรั้ง ย่อมมีคนอีกฝั่งที่รอคอยให้วันคืนเดิมๆ ผ่านพ้นไปเพื่อที่จะพบกับวันใหม่ การหลงอยู่ในวังวนของการเปลี่ยนผ่านกำลังทำให้ผู้คนต่างมองคนในวัฒนธรรมเดียวกันกลายเป็นคนอื่นไป ไม่ว่าจะเป็นโลกทางสังคม หรือเป็นโลกศิลปะ ณ เวลานี้สิ่งที่กำลังขึ้นคือการรื้อฟื้นกลไกการแบ่งแยกแบ่งกลุ่ม โดยที่มีอุดมการณ์ทางการเมืองเป็นตัวชี้วัด กลไกการติดป้าย การจำแนก--การสร้างความเป็นพวกพ้อง/ความเป็นศัตรูกำลังกลับมา และผลที่ตามมาก็คือการพยายามสนับสนุน กู่ก้องเสียงของคนพวกเดียวกันให้ดัง ในขณะที่เสียงของคนอื่นกลับถูกละเลย

Human AlieNation คือนิทรรศการศิลปะที่ต้องการสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงสภาวะที่ผู้คนในสังคมร่วมสมัยต้องเผชิญผ่านการตีความสภาวะความแปลกแยกของศิลปินทั้ง 4 คน พร้อมกับเปิดให้เห็นปฏิบัติการในการทำงานศิลปะและการทำงานทางมานุษยวิทยาในการสะท้อนความเป็นการเมืองทางวัฒนธรรมที่แฝงฝังอยู่ในสังคมไทย

นิทรรศการเปิดให้ชมทุกวันจันทร์ถึงศุกร์ ระหว่างเวลา 9.00 – 19.00น. และวันเสาร์ เวลา 9.00 – 16.00น.

The fields of art and anthropology, despite their different working processes and approaches to practice, share one fundamental commonality: their ability to reflect situations and movements that are currently occurring in society.

“Every group is other to every other group.” This statement by Thomas McEvilley, an American fine art critic, here serves as the point of departure for a dialogue between an anthropologist-in-training and four artists with different backgrounds and creative specialties. The topic of the dialogue is the current condition of Thai society, which is loosely described as a period of social and political transition.During this time of transformation, a group of people on one side tries hard to hold on to the way things have been, while those on another eagerly anticipate the passing of old days and the arrival of new. Ironically, by sharing the condition of being lost inside the labyrinth of cultural change, all are driven to view those living in the same culture as the other. In both the social and art worlds, there is a current effort to revive the mechanism of peer grouping based on political ideology. The act of social labelling, categorizing, and delineation as 'friend' or 'enemy' is experiencing a resurgence. The consequence is the promotion of the voice of the in-group to be heard louder, while that of all others is increasingly ignored.

Human AlieNation project not only presents such reflections on what people encounter in contemporary society from artists' interpretations and perspectives, but also reveals the collaborative practice of its creators. An anthropologist-cum-curator, joins hands with a group of artists give expression to hidden aspects of cultural politics in modern-day.

Exhibition is on view Mondays to Fridays 9am -7pm, Saturdays 9am – 4pm (closed on Sundays and Public Holidays) at the Art Centre Silpakorn University (Wang Thapra)

นพไชย อังควัฒนะพงษ์/ Nopchai Ungkavatanapong
จบการศึกษาระดับปริญญาโทจาก University of Cincinnati, Ohio สหรัฐอเมริกา ใ นปี 2002 เคยเข้าร่วมโครงการศิลปินใน พํานัก (artist residency) ที่ Ecole Nationale d’Arts de Paris-Cergy residency, Cergy, ประเทศฝรั่งเศส และ Gresol Art, Girona, ประเทศสเปนในปี 2003 ปัจจุบันนอกจากจะเป็นศิลปินที่ที่มีชื่อเสียงระดับนานาชาติร่วมแสดงงานสร้างสรรค์ในต่างประเทศหลายครั้ง เอกลักษณ์ในการทํางานศิลปะของนพไชยคือศิลปินที่ต้องการรื้อสร้างความหมายและการรับรู้ที่มีอยู่เดิมของผู้ชมให้เกิดขึ้นใหม่อาทิผลงาน Colour For Guardian Spirits ที่จัดแสดงทั้งในประเทศไทยและเบอร์ลิน เยอรมนีและเมื่อปี 2013 ที่ผ่านมา เขาได้เข้าร่วมการแสดงงานที่ Singapore Biennale ปัจจุบันเขายังเป็นอาจารย์ประจําโครงการจัดตั้งภาควิชาสื่อผสม คณะจิตรกรรมประติมากรรมและภาพพิมพ์มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร

Nopchai completed his masters degree from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. In 2002, he participated in an artist residency program at Ecole Nationale d’Arts de Paris-Cergy Residency, Cergy, France, and, at Gresol Art, Girona, Spain, in 2003. Noppachai’s signature as a mixed media artist is his effort to reconstruct the pre-occupied perceptions and interpretations of audiences. Among his recognized works is Colour For Guardian Spirits, displayed in both Thailand and Berlin, Germany. In 2013, he was also invited to join the Singapore Biennale. Besides his international reputation and participation in several international art exhibitions overseas, he is currently a full-time lecturer for the project of establishing the department of mixed media at the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University, Thailand.

นิพันธ์ โอฬารนิเวศน์/ Nipan Oranniwesna
จบการศึกษาสาขาภาพพิมพ์จาก Tokyo National University of Fine Art & Music, Tokyo ประเทศญี่ปุ่น และเริ่มเข้าร่วมแสดงงานศิลปะและมีผลงานจัดแสดงทั้งในประเทศและต่างประเทศตั้งแต่ยังไม่จบการศึกษา ผลงานสําคัญและสร้างชื่อให้นิพันธ์ในระดับนานาชาติคือการเป็นตัวแทนศิลปินไทยเข้าร่วมเทศกาลศิลปะ Venice Biennale ครั้งที่ 52 ปี 2007 จากนั้นชื่อของนิพันธ์ก็เป็นหนึ่งในศิลปินไทยที่เข้าร่วมแสดงงานในเวทีนานาชาติมาโดยตลอด อาทิ The 18th Biennale of Sydney ปี 2012, Singapore Biennale 2013 “If the World Changed” เป็นต้น ปัจจุบันนิพันธ์เป็นอาจารย์ประจําภาควิชาทัศนศิลป์ คณะศิลปกรรมศาสตร์มหาวิทยาลัยกรุงเทพ

Nipan finished his printmaking study at the Tokyo National University of Fine Art and Music, Tokyo, Japan. He has joined exhibitions in both domestic and international arenas since his college years. One of his major honors is having been chosen as a Thai representative artist to join the 52nd Venice Biennale in 2007. Since then, his name has regularly appeared as a Thai artist represented in international arenas, including the 18th Biennale of Sydney in 2012 and the Singapore Biennale 2013 “If the World Changed”. Currently, he is a full-time instructor at the Department of Visual Arts, School of Fine and Applied Arts, Bangkok University.

จิตติ เกษมกิจวัฒนา/ Chitti Kasemkitvatana
จบการศึกษาจาก RMIT University, Melbourne ประเทศออสเตรเลีย ปัจจุบันเป็นศิลปินและภัณฑารักษ์อิสระที่ทํางานศิลปะโดยใช้กรอบการทํางานเชิงกวี (poetic approach) และไม่ยึดติดกับรูปแบบการนําเสนอแบบใดแบบหนึ่ง ผลงานการสร้างสรรค์ที่ผ่านมาของจิตติจึงมีทั้งการแสดงออกในรูปของงานสามมิติงานจัดวาง หนังสือทั้งในพื้นที่จริงและพื้นที่เสมือนจริง มีประวัติการจัดแสดงในหลากหลายประเทศ อาทิ Secession, Vienna; CAPC Musee d'Art Contemporain, Bordeaux; PS1, New York; Frac-Ile-de-France / Le Plateau, Paris; Level One, Paris; Times Museum, Guangzhou and Centre Européen d’Actions Artistiques Contemporaines, Strasbourg และมีผลงานแสดงเดี่ยวในปีที่ผ่านมา คือ “One moment into another. A Collision” ซึ่งได้รับการสนับสนุนจาก Berliner Kunstler-programm des DAAD

Chitti completed his education in fine art at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. Currently, he works as an independent artist and curator, recognized for his poetic approach and working style, and his not abiding to any particular presentation form. His past works include three-dimensional projects, installation work, books, and more. All are displayed in both physical and virtual spaces. His past exhibitions include those at Secession, Vienna; CAPC Musee d'Art Contemporain, Bordeaux; PS1, New York; Frac-Ile-de-France / Le Plateau, Paris; Level One, Paris; Times Museum, Guangzhou; and Centre Européen d’Actions Artistiques Contemporaines, Strasbourg. His recent solo show is titled “One Moment into Another: A Collision”, under the sponsorship of Berliner Kunstler-programm des DAAD.

วันทนีย์ ศิริพัฒนานันทกูร/ Wantanee Siripattananuntakul
จบการศึกษาสาขาประติมากรรม จากคณะจิตรกรรมประติมากรรมและภาพพิมพ์ มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร และศึกษาต่อในสาขาMedia Arts ที่ University of Bremen ประเทศเยอรมนีวันทนีย์เป็นศิลปินที่สนใจนําศักยภาพของสื่อมาตั้งคําถามกับสังคมผ่านงานศิลปะ วันทนีย์กลับมาเมืองไทยในปี 2007 และมีโอกาสเป็นตัวแทนศิลปินไทยเข้าร่วมเทศกาลเวนิซ เบียนนาเล่ ครั้งที่ 53 ปี 2009 ผลงานที่ผ่านมาส่วนใหญ่คืองานวิดีโอ, ประติมากรรม, งานจัดวาง ที่นําสื่อต่างๆมาใช้เป็นเครื่องมือได้อย่างเฉียบคม อาทิผล งานชื่อ Wantanocchiobot'09 (2009), (Dis)continuity (2012) Living with un common value (2012) Kuenstler Haus, Bremen, Germany, and III (2014), State of ridiculous (2015) เป็นต้น

Wantanee completed her education in Sculpture from the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University, and has furthered her study in the field of Media Arts at the University of Bremen, Germany. She is recognized for exploring the potential of works of art to raise many social questions and to increase awareness of social issues. In 2007, she returned to her homeland to present her exhibition in Thailand, and was chosen to be the representative of Thai artists to join the 53rd Venice Biennale 2009. Most of her renowned past works are in the forms of video, sculptures, and installations based on the utilization of many new forms of media. They include Wantanocchiobot'09 (2009); (Dis)continuity (2012); Living with un Common Value (2012), displayed at Kuenstler Haus, Bremen, Germany; III (2014); and, State of Ridiculous (2015).
