“ เพราะเปลี่ยนแปลง จึงคงดำรงอยู่ ”
ฉันยังคงเชื่อในการเรียนรู้และแลกเปลี่ยนวัฒนธรรมจากผู้คน จากการเดินทางและประสบการณ์ของเหล่าผู้ที่ยังมีชีวิตอยู่ในพื้นที่หรือท้องถิ่นนั้นๆ
.
ฉันเกิดและเติบโตที่กรุงเทพฯ ศูนย์กลางของสรรพสิ่งและการออกกฏต่างๆ ฉันว่ามันเป็นเรื่องที่ไม่สมเหตุสมผลเอาเสียเลย ที่บางความเชื่อและวัฒนธรรม มีที่มาจากการถูกกำหนดโดยผู้มีอำนาจแต่ไม่มีความเข้าใจในเรื่องของความหลากหลายของมนุษย์

ครั้งนี้เป็นการเดินทางในปีที่สองของฉัน เพื่อค้นหาความหมายของคำถามที่ว่า “อะไรคือไทยแท้?” คำถามที่ฉันย้อนกลับมาถามตัวเอง เมื่อครั้งที่มีคนบอกว่าสิ่งที่ฉันทำเป็นเรื่องแหวกม่านประเพณีไทย และต้องการพิสูจน์ความเชื่อที่ว่า “ไม่มีอะไรที่แท้จริง” สิ่งที่ยังคงอยู่ คือการผสมผสาน การเปลี่ยนแปลง เพื่อให้เผ่าพันธ์มีการดำรงค์อยู่อย่างเหมาะสมตามกาลเวลา

อีสานที่ฉันรู้จักจากสื่อหลักก่อนการเดินทาง ช่างแตกต่างจากอีสานที่ฉันได้สัมผัสในช่วงระยะเวลา ๑ เดือน ในการทำงานเสียเหลือเกิน ถ้าให้ฉันได้จำกัดความสั้นๆ สำหรับผู้คนที่นี่ คือ “สุภาพ,ซื่อ,มีความคิดสร้างสรรค์และรักวัฒนธรรมบ้านเกิด”

ถ้าฉันไม่ได้มาอยู่ที่นี่ ฉันคงไม่รู้ว่า อีสานนั้น ;
“มีพื้นที่เขียวขจี ส่วนที่ดินสีแดงนั้น เพียงเพราะว่าเป็นดินที่มีแร่ธาตุ ไม่ใช่เพราะความแห้งแล้ง”
“อากาศที่นี่ช่วงหน้าหนาว เย็นสบาย พอๆกับภาคเหนือ”
“ฉันยังคงเห็นผู้คนใช้อักษรไทน้อย ในภาษาเขียนบางครั้ง”
“ภาษาอีสานใกล้เคียงกับภาษาโบราณ มากกว่าภาษากลางที่ถูกประดิษฐ์ขึ้นให้มีความสละสลวย”
“อีสานมีอะไรอีกหลายๆอย่างให้น่าค้นหา”

ภาพถ่ายชุดนี้ ถูกสร้างมาเพื่อสดุดีอีสานและผู้คนที่ฉันได้พบเจอที่นี่
ฉันขออนุญาตเรียนรู้และเล่าเรื่องราว ผ่านร่างกายของผู้คนที่มาเป็นแบบ ถ่ายทอดตัวตนของพวกเขาออกมาในมุมมองของฉันเอง

เกี่ยวกับศิลปิน
โศภิรัตน์ ม่วงคำ เกิดในพ.ศ. 2526 ที่กรุงเทพฯ โศภิรัตน์เรียนรู้ด้านการถ่ายภาพด้วยตนเอง และเป็นหนึ่งในช่างภาพนู้ดมือฉกาจในกรุงเทพฯ เธอเคยทำงานเป็นช่างภาพในประเทศเยอรมนีเป็นเวลา 3 ปี ก่อนที่จะกลับมาเมืองไทยในปีพ.ศ. 2556 ในช่วงเวลานี้เอง โศภิรัตน์ได้ค้นคว้าแง่มุมทางสังคมที่เกี่ยวข้องกับร่างกายมนุษย์และภาพนู้ด

ผลงานของเธอได้รับการจัดแสดงที่หอศิลปวัฒนธรรมแห่งกรุงเทพมหานคร (BACC) ที่งาน Photo Fair
Thailand (ไบเทค) ที่ Objectifs-Centre for Photography and Film (สิงคโปร์)ที่ Rebel Art Space (กรุงเทพฯ) ที่แกลอรี่ Innerspace (สหรัฐอเมริกา) รวมถึงที่แกลอรี่ Most (ในช่วงเทศกาล Galleries Night ที่กรุงเทพฯ)

นอกจากในช่อง ThaiPBS แล้ว ผลงานภาพถ่ายของโศภิรัตน์ยังได้รับการนำไปตี-พิมพ์ในนิตยสาร VOGUE Italia ตลอดจนนิตยสารไทย Play และนิตยสาร ออนไลน์ของนอร์เวย์ Zoomaa รวมถึงนิตยสารเยอรมัน KALTBLUT และนิตยสารไทย Blast อีกด้วย ปัจจุบันโศภิรัตน์เป็นวิทยากรรับเชิญในงาน

.. Because of the change thus it still remains. ..

I still believe in learning and exchanging cultures through the people by the travels and experiences of those who have lived in the area or locality.
.
I was born and raised in Bangkok where it is the center of things and rules. I think it doesn't make sense that some beliefs and culture derive and are being defined by the person in authority but have no understanding of human diversity.
.
This is my second year of travel. To find the meaning of the question "What is real Thai?" The question I keep asking myself when people say that what I’ve done is about breaking the rule of Thai traditions. And want to prove the belief that "nothing is true, everything is permitted". The enshrined things are blended and changed so that the race has a proper existence over time.

Isaan (Northeast Thailand ) that I know from the main media before my trip. It's very different from Isaan that I have experienced during a month of work. If you let me briefly Isaan for the people here. They are "polite, honest, creative and inherit Isaan Culture."

If I don’t explore here I will not know that Isaan is where;
"There is a green area and it is well-known for the red soil; it's just because it is a soil which contains minerals; it's not because of drought. "
"The weather during the winter is as comfortable as the North."
“I still see people sometimes using Thai-noi alphabet in written language. "
"Isaan language is closer to the ancient language than a common language that was invented to be graceful. " "Isaan has many other things to find. It’s exciting and magnificent."

These photo sets were made to honor Isaan and the people I have met here. I asked permission to learn and tell stories through the bodies of people who came and convey their identities as my own perspective.
Sophirat Muangkum

Artist :
Sophirat Muangkum (b. 1983, Bangkok, Thailand) is a self-taught leading nude photographer based in Bangkok, Thailand. She had spent 3 years working as a photographer in Germany prior to moving back home in 2013 where she started exploring the many social aspects of the body and the nude. Her work has been featured at the Bangkok Art & Cultural Center (BACC), Photo Fair Thailand at BITEC (Bangkok), Objectifs-Centre for Photography and Film (Singapore), Rebel Art Space (Bangkok), Innerspace Gallery (US), Most gallery Bangkok in the framework of Gallerie’s night Bangkok. Her images have been featured in VOGUE Italia, ThaiPBS, Play Magazine Thailand, Zoomaa (Norway), KALTBLUT Magazine (Germany) and Blast Magazine Thailand. She is regularly invited as a guest artist for photography workshops and talks.
