นิทรรศการ Variation

นิทรรศการ Variation ผลงานโดย อาจิณโจนาธาน อาจิณกิจ (Arjinjonathan Arjinkit), พิชากร ชูเขียว (Pichakorn Chukiew), เดยัน ดูคิก (Dejan Dukic) และ ซอยชิโร ชิมิสุ (Soichiro Shimizu) จัดแสดงระหว่างวันที่ 7 พฤษภาคม - 25 มิถุนายน 2559 และจะมีพิธีเปิดในเสาร์ที่ 7 พฤษภาคม 2559 เวลา 18.30 น. ณ ไลลา แกลเลอรี : Lyla Gallery

ไลลาแกลเลอรี่ภูมิใจนำเสนอนิทรรศการ Variationนิทรรศการกลุ่มโดยศิลปินไทย และศิลปินต่างประเทศ อาจิณโจนาธาน อาจิณกิจ พิชากร ชูเขียว (tua pen not) เดยัน ดูคิก (Dejan Dukic) และซอยชิโร ชิมิสุ (Soishiro Shimizu) โดยจะมีงานเปิดนิทรรศการในวันเสาร์ที่ 7 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2559 เวลา 18.30 น. เป็นต้นไป

นิทรรศการ Variation นำเสนอผลงานโดยศิลปินทั้ง 4 คน ที่มีกระบวนการทำงานที่แตกต่างกัน แต่มีทัศนคติในการทำงานร่วมกัน นิทรรศการ Variation ตั้งใจนำเสนอกระบวนการสร้างสรรค์ของศิลปินแต่ละคนมากกว่าตัวผลงานที่เสร็จสิ้นสมบูรณ์ ศิลปินทั้ง 4 ล้วนมีกระบวนการที่แตกต่างกัน รวมไปถึงการทำงานกับสื่อและวัสดุที่หลากหลาย

ในนิทรรศการประกอบไปด้วยผลงานชุดปัจจุบันและผลงานชุดใหม่ล่าสุดจากทั้ง 4 ศิลปิน ผลงานชุด Untitled (oil) เป็นผลงานชุดใหม่ล่าสุดของ อาจิณโจนาธาน อาจิณกิจ ที่หันมาทำงานกับสีน้ำมันอีกครั้ง ในขณะที่ผลงานจากชุด Gazing into Colour ของเขาเป็นการสะท้อนโทนสีของสังคมเมืองในยุคปัจจุบัน จากโทนสีที่ฉูดฉาดและสดใส อาจิณโจนาธานทำงานกับโทนสีที่อ่อนลง และลดความจัดจ้านในผลงานชุดล่าสุด

ผลงานชุด Untitled (epoxy) ของ เดยัน ดูคิก เป็นผลงานชุดปัจจุบันที่เดยันเริ่มพัฒนามาตั้งแต่ช่วงปี พ.ศ. 2543 ผลงานชุดนี้เกิดจากการนำเอาหัวสี และส่วนผสมของอิพอกซี่มาซ้อนทับกัน ตัวผลงานชี้ให้เห็นถึงร่องรอยของชั้นสี และชั้นอิพอกซี่เเกดป็นผลงานที่แปลกตา และผลงานในชุด Storage Painting เกิดจากการนำเอาส่วนขอบไม้ด้านข้างที่ถูกตัดออก แล้วสร้างเป็นผลงานขึ้นอีกชุดจากผลงานจิตกรรมที่ถูกรื้อทิ้ง กระบวนการสำหรับการทำงานชุดนี้นับเป็นการสร้างความหมายใหม่ให้กับผลงานจิตรกรรมของเดยันเอง

พิชากร ชูเขียว (tua pen not) ทำงานชุดใหม่ล่าสุดจากวัสดุสื่อผสม กับผลงานชุด Cement โดยนำเอาวัสดุอย่างซีเมนต์เข้ามาใช้ในการสร้างสรรค์ พิชากรเป็นศิลปินคนหนึ่งที่ทำงานมาอย่างต่อเนื่องและมักนำเทคนิคอย่างเช่นการคอลลาจ หรือการนำวัสดุใกล้ตัวเข้ามาเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในกระบวนการสร้างสรรค์ การนำซีเมนต์เข้ามาใช้นับเป็นความท้าทายครั้งใหม่ของพิชากร

และผลงานชุด SAMSARA เป็นผลงานชุดปัจจุบันของ ซอยชิโร่ ชิมิสุ ที่ถูกพัฒนามาโดยตลอด ผลงานชุดนี้เกิดการการซ้อนทับของชั้นสีชั้นแล้วชั้นเล่า ก่อนที่จะถูกขัดพื้นผิวด้านหน้าออก เผยให้เห็นการผสมผสานระหว่างชั้นสีแต่ละชั้นที่อยู่ด้านล่าง กระบวนการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานในชุดนี้ของซอยชิโร่ เป็นดังการจดบันทึกประจำวัน ชั้นสีแต่ละชั้นเกิดจากความรู้สึกในช่วงขณะสร้างสรรค์ในแต่ละวันของตัวเขาเอง ผลงานชุด Untitled (SAMSARA) เป็นดังการเปิดเผยตัวมันเองที่ทิ้งให้เห็นถึงร่องรอยที่ผ่านมาของช่วงเวลา

Lyla Gallery is pleased to present Variation, a group exhibition showcasing the work of four dynamic artists, Arjinjonathan Arjinkit, Dejan Dukic, Pichakorn Chukiew (tua pen not) and Soichiro Shimizu. The exhibition opening reception will be on 7 May 2016, 6.30 pm. onward.

Variation meant to present each artist’s distinctive, unique and individualized contributions, the exhibition examines the mean to push the boundaries of materials and exploring each artists’ characteristic artistic approach. The exhibition give importance to the process rather than the final outcome. The exhibition comprises of new and on-going series from the four artists.

Untitled (oil) is Arjinjonathan Arjinkit latest series which he continue to work on oil paint. While his Gazing Into Colour series is meant to present the colour of nowadays metropolitan life with his signature bright and vivid colour. In this new series, he works on a more somber and pastel palette.

Untitled (epoxy) is an on-going series by Vienna-base artist, Dejan Dukic. He starts develop the series from the early 2000s. In this series, he employs acrylic paint, fluid pigment and epoxy, layers after layers, resulting in the unique characteristic body of the work. Storage Painting is one of another on-going series; with an intention to recreate artwork out of artwork. He cut the edge of his frame structure, and recompose it as a new body of work. Dejan’s mean to recreate the meaning of his ‘painting’.

Cement is Pichakorn Chukiew latest series. Pichakorn has been working consistently on his abstract painting. He often applies collage technique, including his use of material available at hand in his artwork creation. Applying cement in this recent work is his new challenge in his artistic approach.

SAMSARA is an ongoing series by Japanese Bangkok-base artist, Soichiro Shimizu. He has been developing the series for years. Embedded in Soichiro multi-layered, monotone paints are the act of a response to his feeling while he was working; at the final process, he scraped off the surface, revealing what lay underneath. His diaristic work resonate the presence and trace of time.

The exhibition Variation by Arjinjonathan Arjinkit, Dejan Dukic, Pichakorn Chukiew (tua pen not) and Soichiro Shimizu will be on view from 7 May 2016 through 25 June 2016. The opening reception will be on 7 May 2016, 6.30 pm onward.
