ไลลาแกลเลอรี่ภูมิใจนำเสนอนิทรรศการ ในความทรงจำของรัศมี รุ่งแจ้ง “แม่” โดยศิลปินไทยที่มีผลงานโดดเด่นและเป็นที่น่าจับตามองในระดับนานาชาติ อริญชย์ รุ่งแจ้ง โดยพิธีเปิดนิทรรศการ ในความทรงจำของรัศมี รุ่งแจ้ง “แม่” จะจัดขึ้นในวันเสาร์ที่ 5 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2559 ตั้งแต่เวลา 18.30 น. เป็นต้นไป

ในความทรงจำของรัศมี รุ่งแจ้ง “แม่” (2015) เป็นผลงานชุดล่าสุดของอริญชย์ รุ่งแจ้ง ในผลงานชุดนี้อริญชย์ทำงานเกี่ยวกับ “ความทรงจำ” ของรัศมีผู้เป็นแม่ของอริญชย์เอง รัศมี ในวัย 72 ปี ป่วยเป็นโรคพาร์กินสัน บอกเล่าเรื่องราวเหตุการณ์การสูญเสีย ประยงค์ รุ่งแจ้ง สามีและพ่อของลูกทั้งสองคน จากเหตุการณ์เมื่อ 38 ปีก่อน เมื่อครั้งที่เขาทำงานเป็นวิศวกรกับบริษัทขนส่งสัญชาติเยอรมัน ประยงค์เดินทางไปถึงเมืองฮัมบูร์ก เขาถูกทำร้ายจนได้รับบาดเจ็บสาหัสโดยกลุ่มนีโอนาซี (Neo-Nazism) และเสียชีวิตในหกเดือนภายหลังจากเหตุการณ์ดังกล่าว ความทรงจำของรัศมี ไม่เพียงชี้ให้เห็นถึงความบอบบางของชีวิต หากยังย้อนประวัติศาสตร์ไปถึงผลกระทบจากยุคหลังสงครามโลกครั้งที่สองอีกด้วย

นีโอนาซีเป็นลัทธิการเคลื่อนไหวของกลุ่มคนที่ต้องการฟื้นคืนแนวความคิดเเบบนาซี ในยุคหลังสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 2 เป็นการเคลื่อนไหวในหลายประเทศ ทั้งในทวีปยุโรปและละตินอเมริกา นโยบายส่วนใหญ่เป็นเรื่องของการเหยียดเชื้อชาติ เหยียดสีผิว การเหยียดเพศที่สาม รวมไปถึงการเทิดทูนในตัวอดอล์ฟ ฮิตเลอร์ การถูกทำร้ายของประยงค์ในครั้งนั้น เกิดจากการเหยียดเชื้อชาติ จนถึงขั้นเสียชีวิตในเวลาต่อมา

อริญชย์มักทำงานที่เกี่ยวเนื่องกับความทรงจำ เวลาและการทับซ้อนของเวลา รวมถึงประเด็นประวัติศาสตร์ ในความทรงจำของรัศมี รุ่งแจ้ง “แม่” (2015) เป็นอีกหนึ่งผลงานที่อริญชย์ทำงานเกี่ยวกับความทรงจำของตัวอริญชย์เอง รวมถึงคนใกล้ชิดในครอบครัว ในนิทรรศการประกอบไปด้วยผลงานการจัดวางวีดีโอ ฟิล์ม 35 มม. และจดหมายจากรัศมีที่เขียนถึงอริญชย์ ผลงานในความทรงจำของรัศมี รุ่งแจ้ง “แม่” (2015) ได้รับการร่วมสนับสนุนโดย Deichtorhallen Hamburg Raw Material Company แกลเลอรี่เวอร์ และไลลาแกลเลอรี่

Lyla Gallery proudly presents In Memories of Russamee Rungjang “Mother” by Arin Rungjang, a Thai artist whose works are outstanding and internationally renowned. The opening ceremony of the In Memories of Russamee Rungjang “Mother” Exhibition will be held on March 5, 2016 at 6.30pm onward.

In Memories of Russamee Rungjang “Mother” (2015) is Arin’s latest work, which he explores and investigates his 72-year-old mother, Russamee Rungjang’s memories. Russamee, who has been suffering from Parkinson's disease, tells her memories about the loss of her husband 38 years ago. Prayong Rungjang, the husband and father of two children, was attacked by a Neo-Nazi group while he was traveling in Hamburg. He worked as an engineer for a German shipping company at the time. He passed away six months later. Not only did Russamee’s memories point out the fragility of life, but they also retraced history to the consequences of World War II.

Neo-Nazism was the movement of a group of people who wanted to revive Nazi doctrine in the post-World War II era. The movement took place in many countries in Europe and Latin America. Most policies were about racism, homophobia, and admiration of Adolf Hitler. Prayong’s assault was a result of racism which eventually caused his death.

Arin mostly works in relation to memories, time, and the overlap of time including the issues on history. In Memories of Russamee Rungjang “Mother” (2015) is another artwork relating to Arin’s and his close family members’ memories. The exhibition features video installation, 35mm film, and the letters that Russamee wrote to Arin.
