นิทรรศการศิลปะ "คอนทัวร์ : Contour" ผลงานโดย อังกฤษ อัจฉริยโสภณ (Angkrit Ajchariyasophon) และ ธวัชชัย พัฒนาภรณ์ (Tawatchai Pattanaporn) จัดแสดงระหว่างวันที่ 11 มีนาคม – 9 เมษายน 2559 และจะมีพิธีเปิดในวันศุกร์ที่ 11 มีนาคม 2559 เวลา 18:00 น. ณ นำทอง แกลเลอรี : Numthong Gallery

Contour อ้างอิงถึงเส้นสมมติสามมิติในแผนที่เพื่อสร้างแบบจำลองและทำความเข้าใจสภาพภูมิศาสตร์
Contour Drawing ในทางศิลปะ คือเทคนิคการวาดเส้นอย่างรวดเร็ว เพื่อทำความเข้าใจ ขนาด มิติ รูปร่าง รูปทรงภายนอก ของสิ่งต่างๆ

สำหรับนิทรรศการศิลปะ Contour ในครั้งนี้ คือการแสดงผลงานจิตรกรรมและภาพถ่ายร่วมสมัย โดยศิลปินไทยสองคนที่เข้าร่วมโครงการศิลปินในพำนักที่เมืองริคุเซนทะคะตะ ประเทศญี่ปุ่น ด้วยการสนับสนุนโดยเจแปนฟาวน์เดชั่น กรุงเทพฯ

อังกฤษ อัจฉริยโสภณ ทำงานร่วมกับชุมชนชาวเมืองริคุเซนทะคะตะ ในโครงการ 1000 Rainbows ซึ่งมีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับความหวัง แต่เมื่อกลับมาที่เมืองไทยในยุคสมัยที่ “สี” ถูกใช้เป็นสัญลักษณ์ของกลุ่มอุดมการณ์ทางการเมือง เขาได้สร้างสรรค์จิตรกรรมนามธรรมที่ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจมากจากผลงาน White on White ของศิลปินชาวรัสเซีย Kazimir Malevich และผลงานจิตรกรรมชุด Spectrum V ของศิลปินชาวอเมริกัน Ellsworth Kelly เพื่อบันทึกเหตุการณ์และเป็นประจักษ์พยานต่อความเปลี่ยนแปลงในยุคที่สังคมไทยกำลังเผชิญหน้ากับการเปลี่ยนผ่านครั้งสำคัญ

ธวัชชัย พัฒนาภรณ์ เดินทางไปที่เมืองริคุเซนทะคะตะครั้งแรกในปี พ.ศ.2554 หลังเกิดเหตุการณ์สึนามิไม่นาน โดยได้บันทึกสภาพความเสียหายครั้งใหญ่ที่เกิดขึ้นไว้จำนวนหนึ่ง ในปี พ.ศ.2557 และ 2558 ศิลปินได้เดินทางกลับไปอีกครั้งในช่วงที่เมืองใหม่กำลังสร้างขึ้น ธรรมชาติ ป่าไม้ และภูเขาบริเวณใกล้เคียง กลายมาเป็นฐานดินของเมืองแห่งอนาคตที่คาดเดาได้ยาก เหมือนคนแปลกหน้าที่ต้องทำความรู้จักกันใหม่ แม้สำหรับชาวเมืองที่เคยคุ้น - การมีส่วนร่วมในความเปลี่ยนแปลงทั้งในอดีตและปัจจุบัน เป็นแรงบันดาลใจในการถ่ายทอดผลงานภาพถ่ายแบบร่วมสมัย โดยทดลองสร้างกายภาพของภาพถ่ายแต่ละใบขึ้นมาใหม่ ให้เสมือนภาพจดจำของศิลปิน และความทรงจำของชาวเมือง

อังกฤษ อัจฉริยโสภณ (Angkrit Ajchariyasophon) เกิดปี พ.ศ.2519 ที่จังหวัดเชียงราย จบการศึกษาระดับปริญญาโท จากภาควิชาสื่อศิลปะและการออกแบบสื่อ มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ เป็นศิลปินอิสระ และผู้ก่อตั้ง อังกฤษแกลลอรี่ (facebook : Angkrit Gallery)

ธวัชชัย พัฒนาภรณ์ (Tawatchai Pattanaporn) เกิดปี พ.ศ. 2524 ที่จังหวัดกรุงเทพฯ จบการศึกษาคณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ สถาบันเทคโนโลยีพระจอมเกล้าฯเจ้าคุณทหาร ลาดกระบัง ปัจจุบันทำงานภาพถ่ายและก่อตั้งปาตานีสตูดิโอ (facebook : Patani studio - ปาตานี สตูดิโอ)

Contour by Angkrit Ajchariyasophon and Tawatchai Pattanaporn

Contour refers to 3D vectors we usually use in the map to construct the replica of places so that we can simply understand its geography. Contour drawing in art means the technique of rough drawing so that we can simply understand the sizes, dimensions, shapes and appearances of things.

This ‘contour’ exhibition is the exhibition of abstract paintings and contemporary photos delivered by two Thai artists after they have joined the Artist in Residence Program at Rikuzentakata in Japan. The project is under the support of Japan Foundation, Bangkok.

Angkrit Ajchariyasophon had been working with the people in Rikuzentakata and started the project called 1000 Rainbows. The project communicates mainly about ‘hope’. However, when he came back to Thailand where, in this period of time, ‘colors’ were used widely as symbolic of political ideals, he therefore created a set of abstract paintings which he claimed to be inspired by ‘White on White’ of Russian artist ‘Kazimir Malevich’ and ‘Spectrum V’ of American artist ‘Ellsworth Kelly’. Through this set of paintings, he intended to record the incidents and/or witness the changes occurred in Thailand in this period of time as he believed it was a very crucial time for Thai people and/or Thai society to get through.

Tawatchai Pattanaporn had been to Rikuzentakata the first time in 2012 shortly after the Tsunami incident. He had taken a number of photos of the severe damages. In 2014 and 2015, he traveled back there when the town was gradually reconstructed. Nature objects such as forests and mountains around the town were used as the main tools to rebuild this new town. We, however, hardly foresee how it will look like. It is like a stranger who we need to familiarize again. Even the locals who lived there for a long time might need some time to do so. Having participated with the people in the town since in the past and at the present, Tawatchai claimed to be inspired by them to invent his new set of contemporary photos. He constructed the new physical appearance of each photo to look similar to his own memories and the memories of the people in the town.

** This set of work is the ongoing of the works exhibited in 2015.

Angkrit Ajchariyasophon was born in 1976 in Chiangrai, Thailand. He graduated a Master degree in Media Arts and Design Programme, the Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiangmai University. He is an independent artist and the owner of Angkrit gallery. (facebook : Angkrit Gallery)

Tawatchai Parranaporn was born in 1981 in Bangkok, Thailand. He graduated from Faculty of Architecture, Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. Now, he works as a photographer and an owner of Patani Studio. (facebook : Patani studio)
